Activision confirmed that the next installment in the Call of Duty series will be Call of Duty: Black Ops II with today’s release of the reveal trailer during the NBA playoffs game between the Celtics and the Hawks.
The game will once again be developed by Treyarch, who created the first Black Ops title. From the trailer it appears that the story will take place partly in the future around 2025 and feature at least one character from the previous game, Frank Woods.
Pre-orders for the game started today at 9:30 PM PST. The pre-order page of the official website said this:
“Pushing the boundaries of what fans have come to expect from the record-setting entertainment franchise, Call of Duty®: Black Ops 2 propels players into a near future, 21st Century Cold War, where technology and weapons have converged to create a new generation of warfare.”
