Problems with Sims 2 Happy Holiday Stuff

We purchased Sims 2 Happy Holiday Stuff. Since installing it we have found that it will work with Sims 2 University but not with Sims 2 Pets. When we try to play the game with Pets loaded, the game goes as far as selecting the family, and then never finishes loading. We thought it might just be slow since there was a new add-on, but we left for 15 minutes and when we came back it was still not loaded. There is obviously a problem. Any ideas?

1) Try uninstalling all custom content
2) Make sure your drivers and game patches are all downloaded and installed.
