Problem With Sims 2: Pets

Recently I purchased Sims 2 Pets, and when I try to play the game after a few minutes the game crashes to desktop.
The strange thing is that creating sims & building houses work perfectly - its only when I start to play that things go wrong....

I have installed all of the various patches from EA games, I have the latest drivers for everything, etc Plus have tried uninstalling everything, and starting from stratch...

But I really can't work out whats going on - any suggestions would be greatly appreicated!



System Specs: P4 with Window XP SP2, 6600 Intel Core Duo, 2GB DDR2 RAM, GeForce 8800 GTX, 750GB HDD

What are your specs? Pets has a much higher requirement than the other EPS as the Pets themselves are very CPU/graphicscard/RAM intensive. Even if you think it's not the problem, it helps to know what the specs are in case of weird glitches/incompatibilities.
