couple questions for seasons

i installed seasons and my custom content in one of my houses was flashing blue (which it's done before) so i closed out of the game, moved everything in my downloads folder to another folder and then moved it back into my downloads folder (which usually does the trick) but when i went back into the house all my furniture was different and had a weird pattern to it....for example my white sink had black zebra stripes....so i deleted all the furniture in the house and redid it (including windows) and now my house won't let sunlight in no matter what window i use....any solutions to this problem?

also, when you buy clothes it's supposed to show your sim to the left and what the outfit would look like on them but when i do it, it's showing a different sim, one i haven't made....anyone else have that problem too?!

and i hate to be a pain but my sims can't catch lightening bugs or butterflies, i thought they could????

sorry for being a big pain, but i hope someone can help!!!!! and on that note i just wanna say that i LOVE seasons, it's the best EP EVER!!!!!

First off you obviously didn't read the instructions ;)

Custom build/buy mode content mostly requires the CEP in order to work This often needs to be upgraded after a new expansion pack comes out. However after installing an expansion the game starts with custom content disabled. This would tend to be the cause of the blue flashing.

No, when you buy clothes your Sim isn't the one on the left. It's just a general "manaquin" (spl?) I guess. So that part is right.
Can't help you with anything else though...

actually it was only one house, that's why i don't understand....when i went into other houses they were fine.....

and i can't make snowangels either....:cry:

I couldnt make the snowmen and snowangels too. I read at the BBS that you need to have TONS of snow before the option is available.

And about your fireflies question, its not a 100% thing that can be done. You sim have a 50 50 chance of being able to catch them. I made my sim do it 3 times just to catch them. If they fail to catch the flies, they will have a disappointed look.

To catch the fireflies or butterflies, you gotta click on the ground where the butterflies/fireflies are at. Then the option will appear :D But beware that its a 50 50 chance of catching them, so keep trying ;)

About the snowangels, I realised that after I enabled my custom content and restarted to game to view my custom content, the option to make snowman/snowangel is no longer available, and I cant seem to even fish anymore, no matter hw deep the pond was :(

that's a bummer........i hope someone makes a patch or something for that b/c i don't want to lose everything i downloaded but i still want all the benefits of the game! after all, what good is snow if you can't make snowmen/angels!

I'm having that issue as well...I also can't catch fireflies or butterflies (doesn't give me the option), although I've had a few sims do it on their own. More than likely it's an issue with one of my hacks though, I'm going to remove those and see if it works out for me.

By far I dont have any problems with the buterflies/fireflies like you both do.

However, related to my snowman/snowangel and fishing problem, I uninstalled and reinstalled my entire sims2, and removed my "inseminator" hack. I tried again, and now it seems fine :D My sims could fish again and build snowman and snowangels. :p

I hadnt tried it with a different family yet though :rolleyes:

Ah ha! I do have that, so I'll remove that one right away. Otherwise I mainly just have hacks from More Awesome Than You. I'm going to start by leaving all the JM hacks in and taking everything else out.

good news!!! i uninstalled my insimenator and reinstalled it and now everything works fine.........yay!!! i reinstalled the OBJ Edition, i don't know if that matters or not....the only thing i miss from the other edition is my sims being able to teleport, but i'm glad i got it fixed....now my sims can spend their saturday afternoon fishing!

You are most welcome :D Im glad it helped, it was just a trial and error that I removed the "inseminator" because I didnt have much hacks that affected much things in the game :o

The only thing I didnt like bout the fishing part was I had to keep typing the cheat "boolProp useshaders true" in each house, just to see the fish swimming in the pond :(

i didn't know about that boolprop cheat....i'll have to try that b/c i'm not seeing fish in my pond either......

one other problem i found is that in some houses where i have a loft that you can see the downstairs while your upstairs the furniture doesn't show up downstairs and even when i buy something new it doesn't show up, but it's only a few houses....i'm not too worried about if, but if anyone has the same problem or has a solution, let me know!

LOL I'm still not seeing fish even with the useshaders on.

Also anyone played any university lots with EP5? The seasons don't seem to be advancing properly.

I moved Bracken into a dorm having set the start season as Autumn. She's now 10 hours from her first final exam and Fall still has 4 days left.

I read at the BBS that your pond gotta be real deep, even around the edges to see the fish. If you cant, you gotta use the cheat, and if it still doesn't work, maybe its because your graphic card doesn't support shaders.

But it may be a bug also, because some of my houses, even with the cheat on, my fish is missing, lol. I see actions of "something" (which I call invisible fish) jumping outta the pond and back in, and when I do look in my pond, (thats prolly so deep its in the middle of the earth now "hi Legolas :D ") still no fish :eek:

Maybe someone would report it as a bug :D

LOL Jess but my card is not exactly cutting edge and the driver is is so old it is written in hieroglyphs. Not being able to see fish doesn't count as broke enough (in my book) to warrrant messing around with techie geekie stuff. My sims can catch fish and once outa the water the fish look real enough so that's good enough. Meanwhile I am just glad to have survived the worst bout of Cambodian pterodactyl flu anyone ever had and am now ready to assure everyone that there are worse things in life than being dead.

BTW I laughed out loud about the deep pool/Legolas quip. :D

LOL Im liking the fishing part, except that my sim keeps getting boots, (The last I recall, he had 6 boot) and a tiny fish. I gave the boots away as gifts :rolleyes:

And Im really serious bout how deep it was (of course it wasnt planned to be made so deep, I just had a tendency to over click the "lower ground" button) that my dad was asking me why my pond had no ground in it :o

The pond does need to be deep, but you might try fishing in it. Sometimes I don't see fish until I do that, and I have a very nice graphics card.

As for Uni, I wonder if it's just because time advances differently there? Maybe your next term will be the next season?

I definately thought there was a glitch in my game and that was why I couldnt make snowmen or snowangles. So if you have to have a lot of snow to make a snowman, then how much snow is a lot?? I really want my sims to make a snowman!:D

I think by the second snow on the lot there should be enough. Try moving your cursor around the lot, especially in a patch of open snow, and see if you get an options indicator. You should be able to make snowman/snow angel.

I don't know if this is a bug.
In one of my houses Playing the piano or painting is taking away fun points.
And I also haven't seen the fish in the pond. I have a 250mg graphics card, so I don't think its my machine.
i also had a problem with one of my sims unable to get into the red spar.
all the other sims could, and it was his spar???:rolleyes:

I,m thinking to delete everything, all my sims and family,s and lots. The whole game. and start all over again.:eek:
It seems to me that you have to be a programmer just to play the game.
I spend more time fault finding than playing.
I only hope that maxis comes out with a patch real soon.
I'm a Virgo so everything has to be perfect.;)

CEP stands for color enabler package, its what makes our recolors of furniture show up in the game. Without it they won't work.

Not sure whether I need it. But I did it anyway.

I just came across the Maxis BBS and had my computer tested.
It passed with flying colours. Way above minimum req. So I think there are a few bugs with the game that needs to be Ironed out

AAAAAh I killed my neighborhood.

What ever you do. Don't accidentally use you sims 2 disk.
If you have seasons.
I accidentally put the wrong disk in and it reset my whole neighborhood back to the beginning. I hadn't saved a backup so all my families have gone down the glitch hole.:eek:
On the good side I have a clean, start all over again install.:rolleyes:
I used the Boolprop and can now see all my little Fishy's in the pond.

Happy again.:D

No I have worked out the piano it goes just a bit lower than full fun and detract and adds fun points. And the love tub is the one. No one in it and the poor sim was complaining about not getting in. It was just one sim. Since i re installed. Have had no probs. For the fish I had to use the boolprop useshaders true. then it worked.

I have just found another problem.
Since I re installed I cannot get the ford mustang package to install.
It says this content requires expansion pack data that is not installed.
I know I'm doing something wrong or have forgotten a step. :rolleyes:
I wish it would tell me the data thats not installed.:(

Did you install Nightlife? You need it to use cars. If so, it could be that the custom package doesn't work with the EPs you have installed.

I love Nightlife. If you can afford it, and your machine can handle it, you should consider getting it. Dates, and downtown, add a lot to your playing options. And cars are definitely useful.

No . I have a lot of work just doing the gardening. I might get it some time.
I have fixed the problem with the car and garage. I backed up my resent sims, then uninstalled. then re installed sims2 basic. added the car and garage, even though it didn't show up. Then installed seasons and re double clicked the car and garage, It works fine now.
I think I had a glitch when I first re installed seasons. the computer froze after installing, so I hit the reset button and everything seemed OK until i tried double clicking the car and garage
