The appearance is quite intentional for Mozilla and Konqueror, and other browsers with some semblance of a clue. However, Since IE does not support the things I did (CSS position: fixed being the primary problem), I simply made sure IE would not bother to try. :-)

Why does IE 5.5 make it look nicer than IE 6? Which version is it meant to look like?

The shots of IE 5.5 and 6 should look the same depending on your default browsing font. The page does not specify a font, so your browser will choose an appropriate default. My only conclusion is that Allowee has a different font (looks like Verdana) selected in IE 5.5.
