We will still share the same MySQL, Mail, Control Panel, and DNS servers. Paths to applications, paths to your sites, and IPs of other servers will not be changed, so the move should be relatively low impact.

The advantages of this are three:

1) We will now be isolated from the paid hosting, meaning those accounts won't interfere with server performance and vice versa.

2) We will be able to be more perceptive to various software installations and requests than we could be on the main servers.

3) All the sites will be on the same web server, reducing a fair amount of confusion.

For the most part, this change should not affect any sites, though it is possible missing software on the new server may break scripts. It is also possible that if you depended on the IP or hostname of the web server anywhere, you will need to update the associated IP.

No exact date has yet been set for the move, but accounts will be moved cleanly, one at a time, due to the way that H-Sphere handles account transfers. Each site that is moved may be down for approximately 4 hours when it is transferred, due to DNS propagation.

Please also note that while I have been MIA, SimGames.net is not dead or dying. Please bear with us. We hope that in a few months we will be able to restructure in a way that serves all of our members (and even new applicants) much better.</div>
