All of my Sims have turned into black silhouettes! I checked my skins folder to make sure all the skins were still there, and I ran Sims File Cop, but nothing came up

erk?! I've never heard of this before! You might first try re-booting your computer and starting the game again... if it's still messed up you might try running scandisk and defrag on your computer and then (much much later as it takes FOREVER) run your game again....
I sometimes get weird stuff where my sim just shows her head and hands when a skin was messed up for some reason... but it fixed itself when I rebooted and started the game again...

Alright, I've tried restarting, and I've also tried defragmenting my hard drive, and nothing works.

Alright, the one thing I noticed is that the sims are only silhouettes in the closeup zoom

I think I'm just going to have to uninstall the Sims and just reinstall it, if nobody has any better ideas

Did you add any skins recently?

Not when the problems started happening. But I moved all my skins, objects, walls, floors, and roofs to another folder and reinstalled the Sims, then moved all my files back, and the problem's gone

Wow, I'm sorry you had to go through reinstalling, but I'm glad that worked!!

Well, it wasn't all that bad, since I only lost the houses I'd built and the families I'd created, so I get to start all over and build cooler houses and cooler families

Love your positive attitude littlemistresspixie!! I've seen people do nothing but whine after they uninstalled their game.

Reinstalling just means more room to show off my creativeness ;)
Besides, I already rebuilt my favorite house that I lost, and it looks even better now than it did before

Hey that's cool that re-building was an improvement!! :D I'd love to see a screenshot of your favorite house, if you have any pics in the game... ;) I always love to see the houses people make!

I'm not sure how to do screenshots of my houses, but I can try. Do I push the print screen buttonwhile in the game and copy it to paint? Or am I totally off track?

Yes, that's how you can take an actual screenshot of your entire computer screen at that moment, but if that's too hard to do while playing, you can always just go to the Photo Album mode within the game and take a game picture of your house. :D

And I'm starting a fantasy lot, with only pixies and faeries in it.I love Sims!!!! BTW, I got Superstar 2 days ago and it's great!

I see you're enjoying the new objects from Superstar in your remade house there! :D
I had an all faerie/fantasy lot/family I have backed up somewhere on cd but I don't have it in my game right now, I had a winged man (Archangel from X-Men comics) and a butterfly winged fairy woman as my couple living there. :)

Yeah, my fantasy lot has about 6 houses in it right now. I just realized, going through my lots last night, that most of my houses in lots 6, 7 and 8 are still there, even after uninstalling and reinstalling. The families are even still there!!!! I don't understand why, but I think it's really cool.

Maxis's mysterious uninstallation once again does something weird.. *frowns*

I am utterly confused by this, seeing as how I didn't back up my houses or families like I did my objects
