Game crashes when entering the Family icon

Please help me...
I recently tried to play sims two, but the objects in the neighborhood wouldnt show, except the name of the object would outline it.
Also when i try to create a sime, my game crashes.
Any advice?

Have you checked the help available in the FAQ's? And the help section at EA games? There links are in the Read This First at the head of all the Sims 2 Forums.

I maintain the FAQs and the link to the FAQs is in my signature. Speaking purely off the cuff with no idea at all about what type of computer you have I would say that you do not have a powerful enough computer to play the game. To help you we need decent information. Just saying that you have trouble and the game crashes is meaningless. Obviously you have trouble otherwise you wouldn't be asking for help. If you need help then you need to be a little dedicated in describing the nature of the problem, the exact nature of the equipment that you're using, and any other information that might be useful. It might seem like a drag having type away for ten minutes but someone is more likely to be able to help if you've gone to the trouble to describe, clearly enough, what is wrong.

My game crashes and terminated when i try to create a family/sim...
also the icons in the neighboorhood screen show up as words instead of the actual objects...

can anyone help me?
