Lila, would you mind posting your system specs? Really can't do much without them. :) Start > Run > dxdiag should do it. Cycle thru the tabs at the top and let us know what information they give you. :)
Also--what version of Windows are you running?

Maybe there just isn't a lot of memory left on your computer.. Are you using a lap top, by any chance?

Memory: 254MB RAM
This might be it: if I'm not very much mistaken, TS2 needs 256MB RAM (it says so on the back of my TS2 case ). But I find it odd that it installed on your computer at all if it didn't have the right amount of RAM in the first place... :ermm: :ponder:

First of all, here are the minimum req's for playing The Sims 2 base game here (http://easims.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/easims.cfg/php/enduser/std_adp.php?p_faqid=7777&p_created=1094250911&p_sid=F6bFa*zi&p_lva=14462&p_sp=cF9zcmNoPTEmcF9zb3J0X2J5PSZwX2dyaWRzb3J0PSZwX 3Jvd19jbnQ9MjEmcF9wcm9kcz03LDcwMCw3MDEmcF9jYXRzPTA mcF9wdj0zLjcwMSZwX2N2PSZwX3BhZ2U9MSZwX3NlYXJjaF90Z Xh0PXN5c3RlbSByZXF1aXJlbWVudHM*&p_li=&p_topview=1).
Now, I'm not exactly up to speed on non- T&L capable video cards, but even if the one you are using is compatible your pc is too slow for it.
So you need to get a new graphics card.
Keep in mind when getting a new graphics card that if you want to get expansions to The Sims 2 that the graphics requirements change, so its probably better to take a look at the minimum req's for seasons and go from that list of graphics cards. You can find that here. As muffin said you will need to get more memory for your pc too.

Ok, hold on :) Something to consider:
Your PC does not have a T&L capable video card. Therefore for it to work you must have a 2.0GHz processor. At 1.2 GHz, your computer just doesn't have the oomph to drive TS2.
You have a few options:
1. Try to replace the video card. I don't know whether that's possible with the one that you have.
2. Try to replace the motherboard and processor. Probably more $/£ than it's worth.
Might I ask just how old your computer is?

If you dont know how to put memory in yourself then you should take your pc to a computer shop and let them put it in for you. They'll know which memory you'll need.
I'd suggest having at least 1 gig of memory though as this game uses a lot and the more memory the faster the game will run (as long as you have a compatible graphics card).
It totally depends on your budget.
