custom video problems

ok i am having problems with custom videos on sims 2 i know they have to be 128x128 and no more than 15fps also avi file but when i add a video with all the right settings when the sim turns on the T.V. the game shuts down

and so far only one video has worked and it was a video that didnt even have all the right setting can anyone help me on how to get the videos to work properly?

What software are you using to create the avi files?

It may just be a case that the game doesn't like the video codec that is used. Not all codecs are created equal :rolleyes:

If you want to come back, please supply more information, like some computer specs (especially your video and sound cards and the relevant driver details for those). Also name your video software and what expansions you have on The Sims 2 and if you have the latest patches installed.

well im using xilisoft video converter 3 i have a windows vista with the latest nvidia drivers 32 bit


im not sure if that information is helpfull where do i go exactly to get all my info if its not too much to ask

Ah. EA say that Vista should run the game without problems and to use compatibility mode if you do have problems.

well now when i use windows xp (service pack 2) the game doesent shut down anymore but the videos wont play the screen on the sims t.v will stay white

Sorry but this is not a solveable problem. I made some videos myself that did work in the game, but I removed them again because the files were so enormous. That was because the mpeg to avi converter I used was a freeware thing and ... basically ... total crap. :p

You're using xilisoft video converter 3 which is not free. If you have paid for it then you should taking up your issues with the software company. If you haven't paid for it then either search the popular download sites for other converters or else pay the man. It's no use looking for a specific codec ... it's more a case of finding a converter that does the business.
