After hearing that a work colleague lost a ton of weight using a dance mat for 20 minutes a day, I decided I would give it a try. :p
Ok, first of all, I have 2 left feet when it comes to dancing. Seriously. I am so unco-ordinated it's unbelievable (as my IM buddies will attest to the amount of typos/ letter reversals I make on IMs). :o
I started life as a left hander and when the teacher made me put my left hand behind my back and learn to write with my right hand at age 5, it messed up my brain. :p I'm now ambidextrous, although I prefer to write with the right hand and draw with the left. I refuse to dance in public (which is gonna be a slight problem at our wedding :o ) and can't even remember the last time I danced at all. HOWEVER! I am prepared to make a complete fool of myself in the privacy of my own home when my fiance is out at work and the curtains are closed, lol, by practising on a dance mat. I'm hoping it will help with both fitness/ weight loss and co-ordination.
So, here is where I need some advice. I've looked on various websites for a dance mat and game, but so far haven't been able to decide on which one to buy. I figured that personal recommendation is best and so I wondered if anyone can help me out? In the UK, the DDR is labelled as Dancing Stage, apparently. Hard mat or soft mat? I need one that doesn't slip easily. Games? I have a PS1 and PS2 so only those can be considered.
Any help/ recommendations would be appreciated. Thanks. :)
