Please understand, that there are thousands of people creating hundreds of thousands of amaxing things for you to put into the world of your Sims, and almost all of them are safe, and well designed.
Maxis makes the game so that creators can create and add to it. For this very reason, it makes out game a thousand times more comlicated, and it the reason why some of the issues arrise where users need to reinstall there games. Because our game is complex, very complex.
Please keep downloading user created content, but be diligent about it. Keep track of what you have installed, and whether it might be causing a problem. Make sure you use all of the "safety" programs like file cop to identify any problems.
When you install a new pack you need to remove all of your user created patches, many of them can be removed by deleting the iff files in your global directory.
We want you to have whatever you want and need in your game, but we also want you to be able to play your game, so sometimes you have to compromise. And that compromise might be if you are ahving problems, removing all of your downloads when you install and then adding them back in to see what is causing the problems.
This is not to say by any means that downloads are even responsible for most of the problems that occur when you install
a new expansion pack, there are a myriad of others, and I apologize if it has appeared that downloads are being blamed for all problems. Because they most certainly are not the cause of all the problems.
