Are our Minnesota Chapter Members okay? Shana, I think you're enroute to Boston at the moment, so I think you're okay.
Sacharissa? SBW?

I'm OK! Thanks for asking. Appreciate that!!
I was watching my local news when the reports started coming in...Totally unreal! This is THE MAJOR bridge going north and south right in the middle of Minneapolis...a bridge I've been over hundreds, if not thousands of times!
And yes, I believe that Shana is in route...SBW? You OK???

Crazy!!! You don't expect something like this to happen in the United States, the land of expensive bridges to nowhere... how can a 40 year old bridge completely collapse like that? Anyway, it's quite a tragedy. :(

I'm fine. Sorry if anyone was worried. Everyone I know is fine, so far.
This is simply shocking. Like Sacharissa, I drive over this bridge weekly, if not daily. It's the major thoroughfare from our neighborhood to the rest of the city.
I don't think anyone's going to get much work done tomorrow. I'll bet a lot of people don't even make it in. I wonder if they'll shut off downtown.

Good to hear you and yours are OK, SBW. :D
My heart goes out to those affected by this situation. Here's hoping that neither the death toll nor the injury tally climbs.

Latest update: 7 confirmed dead. 60+ Injuries
Work being done was some concrete repair work. Unknown if it contributed to the collapse of the bridge.

Just got home (yes, I was on a plane to Boston when it collapsed); Brandon was at home sleeping; but he does drive over this bridge daily to get to work and back. I'm thankful it didn't collapse during morning rush hour as that's when he's on his way home. I've spoken with my family and as of right now we don't know anyone who was on the bridge.
It's very tragic; it's also going to really effect a lot of people physically here for quite a while. Even though my exit to get to work is about 3 miles before the bridge it's been shut off; and the other main road that I use when traffic is backed up has been turned into a temporary freeway blocking all the side streets so I'll be spending part of the weekend attempting to find an alternate road to work. I'm sure I'm not the only one who this will affect for figuring out the roads.
