Jeff Fiske of Tilted Mill posted this over at SimTropolis (http://www.simtropolis.com/forum/messageview.cfm?catid=367&threadid=91416&STARTPAGE=1#1191999) earlier this evening.
Bridges are built across water when you drag a road. (They will change appearance with your city)
If you want services like heathcare and police, you need to place those buildings but rather then providing coverage to an area, or contributing to some blanket metric- They directly effect the Sims of your city.
Police officers will be spawned (if workers show up there) and they will actively patrol and arrest criminals. Hospitals will provide healthcare for any sim that needs it, provide that Sim actually goes there. Obviously, if you have severe problems one building will not meet the need. Also, societies often solve these problems in different ways- so you have more extreme choices like State Prisons, small clinics, private doctor offices, and even faith healers.
Education contributes to advancing your society as a whole, as Knowledge is a Societal Value and buildings produce and consume it. Not only do buildings need it to function, some will be locked until your city produces enough knowledge. For example, you need to produce 40 knowledge just to use the a Nuclear reactor but it does not use (drain) your actual knowledge production the way a research lab does.
There is a wide variety of art and architectural styles, though of the 350+ there are only a few references to Art Deco as I know it. The upcoming trade show in Germany will show off our latest cities in the theme of Cyberpunk and Romantic (mid 20th century European). I am sure there will be screenshots released around that time.
