Welcome to all Brides, Grooms, Best Men, Maids of Honor, Groomsmen, Ushers, Bridesmaids, Parents of the Bride/Groom...whoever! Introduce yourself in your first post; let us know your role in the wedding, if you have a role in the wedding that is!

Alright; after Muffin (who's not even a bride yet!) agreed that I should start a wedding thread I decided to do it. There are at least 3 of us here getting married that are regular posters; feel free to join in if you're new or just want to contribute to the thread!

Contribute whatever you want. If you want to rant about the wedding process, go for it! If you want to rave about something new for the wedding you just picked up or completed do that! If you've got questions, post them and we'll be a sounding board. Post links that have been helpful for you if you've got them. And pictures pictures pictures...who doesn't like pictures?!?

Hopefully this is helpful!

Alright, I'll post more later, I'm still at work; but I wanted to share my latest idea.

We are getting our engagement pictures done on the 29th (praying for fall colors and good weather!). Once we get those pictures back I'm going to have it made into a coffee table book; but only have the pictures on every other page. We're going to use it as the guest book. Better then a traditional guest book that you throw in a drawer and never use, and I have a feeling that the signed photo frames (that are also HUGE) might end up looking pretty dated later. Not a big fan of the inscribes plates either. So this way we can put it away if we need too or proudly display it on our coffee table. I'm excited about it.

Man that sounds much nicer than the generic one I've just bought. Oh well, ours is going to be a no muss no fuss wedding.

The hardest thing I've done so far is actually go out and buy bridesmaid's dresses. I could only go with my MOH as she's the only one who knows, and hopefully I've got the right sizes for my sisters. They're nice though, and when I've got them off layby I'll post a pic.

I've also got some under stuff to wear under my dress to hold all of the wobbly bits in ;). I don't have half the willpower Shana does (she says munching down a bag of potato chips :o) so therefore, diets don't like me.

I think that's about it for now. We have everyone pitching in, and as it's only and engagement party ;) we're only having a BBQ dinner. Plus we're getting people to bring salads and sweets and all the niggly food bits that they want. I really love a no muss no fuss wedding!

Found a pic of my dress from ebay. Very simple, but I love it and it looks very good on.

What do ya think?

Absolutely LOVELY!!!! It's "simple" but very sophisticated and I beleive it will bring YOU out the best way. I'm no fan at all about these people that have all this fancy stuff on - you can't see the person anymore... Everyone is looking at the clothes.. But I think you really "hit the nail" there. Lovely, lovely, lovely"

Thanks Helen! I love it too. I didn't want anything that puffed out too much, because, to be perfectly frank, I don't need anymore help in looking like a marshmallow :D. Plus, as the wedding is in the backyard, it just didn't suit to go with a big extravagent dress. Plus we can't afford one ;)!!

Having said that, if I could afford and look good in a big dress, I would get one. But hey, there's always next time :p

Bridesmaid dress shopping was one thing I wasn't looking forward to doing either. So I let the girls pick out their own dresses; I just specified the color. The maid of honor is going to be in an ice blue dress by Les Soirees and the two bridemaids are going with Alfred Angelo Seperates collection in cornflower...they ended up picking the same top so that works! I'll attach a picture of what they picked out. I still haven't found flower girl dresses yet; I have two flower girls too. That's on my to do list by the end of the month. Tonight my mom and I are going to be spray painting branches silver for our centerpieces. We're hanging them from the clothes line and going nuts. :D Should be fun!

How many bridesmaids are you having Alli? Hugz; have you picked out a bridal party yet?

Picture: Dress on left is the Alfred Angelo Seperates dress the two bridesmaids picked out. Dress on right is Maid of Honor's dress but it will be in an ice blue color, slightly lighter then the cornflower blue of the other two girls.

I have my MOH, who is my best friend and has been for about 7ish years. Then there is my 2 sisters for my bridesmaids. But my sisters don't know yet. They'll find out about half an hour before it happens.

They are all in a deep purple colour dress, that is really nice, but I can't describe them, so you'll just have to wait a couple of weeks for me to pay them off before I show pics.

Ash' cousin is coming down from QLD to be best man (he's the only other one who knows) and his two mates are going to be Groomsmen, but they are the same as my sisters and won't know til half an hour before. It's all very exciting really. Must find a countdown timer and find out how far away it actually is. (Just stealing your idea Shana) :D

Edit: Just added ticker. Wow, that's not long at all really now is it?? :worried:

With that ticker it will seem like it will go even faster!!! I swear mine just said 7 months like two weeks ago. Yikes!

And that is pretty cool that you're surprising your family like that! Do they know you two are engaged? Or is everything a big surprise? It sounds like such an exciting way to get married!

Our only possible surprise is that we will be giving roses to our mothers during the ceremony and we might...might...start our first dance with a slow song and change it up into a fast song and do a silly coordinated dance so it's not so dull! We'll see; we haven't decided on that yet. SBW and Sacharissa, don't breath a word to anyone else in case we end up doing that since you're in on the secret now! :p

They know we're engaged so it's just the wedding that will be a surprise. It's hard keeping it to myself though. Several times I've been talking about food and organisation of the party with mum and i've got to think everything through before I say it to make sure I don't let on. It's frustrating, but I think it will all be worth it.

We just found out the date clashes with a friends 30th though, so I don't know how that will affect the guest list. To tell you the truth, I'm really not that fussed though. If they are there, they're there, if not, tough. We will be and that's the main thing.

Can you let your friend know what you're planning? Maybe they will then change their date?

I understand the rest though; my mom keeps saying; "you can get married without a cake, without a dress, without any guests; as long as the two of you and the officiant are there that's all that matters in the long run!" I try to keep that in the back of my head whenever I'm feeling a bit stressed about the wedding.

I sure hope so! Honestly I've been really stressed about it lately. It just seems like every other thought or every other activity I do outside of work (and quite often while at work) has to do with the wedding...it's starting to get a little bit overwhelming.

Seriously:
Thursday: On the phone with my mom to go over some details regarding the videographer; trying to decide on the package. Discussed when we need to be buying the flowers (I'm DIYing them). Talked about flower girl dresses and set deadline for when I need to have them picked out. Looked online at flower girl dresses for 2 hours...

Friday, went up to my parents to spray paint 42 branches silver for our centerpieces. (turned out cool, see pictures) Discussed time line with mom to try to settle on times; tried to figured out transportation as well for the day of. Discussed videographer and flowers again. Looked online for flower girl dresses again...

Saturday: Premarital Counseling session in AM. Went to a donor recruitment drive for work and got asked all about the wedding plans for the entire 6 hours I was there. Went to dinner with a friend who also asked me all about our wedding plans and I discussed with her what she might be reading during the ceremony. Flower girl dresses...

Sunday: Went through insurance papers trying to figure out who's insurance is better for once we're married. Try to figure out time lines after marriage for when children might enter the picture to see if that would make a difference with who's insurance we go with. Sat down with Brandon to discuss all that. Talked about the wedding plans and roles certain people will play. Mom called; discussed plans for the bridal shower; think we have the date set for November 4th. Called Maid of Honor to leave message, waiting for her to call back. Realized how many companies/places I need to contact after getting married to let them know of my new name....ugh....headache right there. Realized that after 27 years (I'll be 27 when we marry) that I will no longer be Shana (Last-name). Had a slight identity crisis. Ran into my cousin at a grocery store who happens to be the mother of one of the flower girls...discussed the d*** flower girl dresses and promised to have a decision by the end of the month.

Tomorrow: If I hear from Maid of Honor, book the community room for the shower in our apartment building. Yes it probably shouldn't be at my apartment but it's the only place big enough to accommodate the 100+ women and children who will probably show. We're doing it open house style for the reasons of the large number of people. Look at frickin flower girl dresses again...

That's just 4 days people! You try planning a party for 250 people where your life changes in front of all of them; it's a bit stressful. But again; I wouldn't change any of it for the world. I'm overjoyed to be marrying Brandon; and I am actually happy to be taking his name as I do feel it's important. It's important to us to also have this big ceremony as we want everyone to share in on the day. It's just a lot to take on. We're working with a smaller budget; I say smaller because average weddings in the St. Paul area are about $30,000.00. Ours will be below $10,000. If we had unlimited resources I think it would be easier.

And Odimoon...one n in my name. ;) Now find me some good flower girl dresses for punishment.

picture captions:
1. Box of branches to be hung on a clothesline and spray painted silver.
2. Silver branches on a clothesline :-P
3. Unfinished centerpiece; these branches will later have "ice" on them and single strands of tinsel hanging off them with a fake snow (that looks real and is made with a powder and water) in the vase.
4. Showing the snowflake that the vase will sit on. There will also be tealights in tealight holders in between each arm of the snowflake.

Wow! You really put your heart into this. It's amazing. I don't think I will have such a wedding, when we can "afford" to get married... There's too much to do and settle before we can do it and be away on an honeymoon. :) We're establishing the company here and that takes lots of time and energy, and you just can't "let go" in our business like that. That would crash it and when back we wouldn't have any income to rely on... :p And also.. My wish is to go to New Zealand on my honeymoon... And that's sort of on "the other side" as well. But as we say here:
"The person that waits for something good wont ever wait in vain". .D
All I can say to you both is:
You have my very best wishes for the future and may your life fulfill your dreams. :)

I think I'm pretty much organised. The only thing I now have to worry about is what do I get the bridal party and groom for presents? I think we were going to go with champagne glasses and beer mugs (http://www.groovyglass.com.au/index.php?PCID=3318)with the names and roles for the bridal party, though we're still not 100%.

But what do I get Ash? I have no idea. Well, I have one idea, but it would have to be a wedding, birthday and christmas present all in one, as I won't be able to afford anything else. Was thinking a night in the city and 2 tickets to Spamalot. He'd like to see that, actually, it's the only musical I think he'd actually volunteer to go to .

You're both right! I'm super excited to get married, but honestly I am a little stressed about what needs to be done still. Mainly because I'm the only planner. A lot of the things that I need help from Brandon with we only have Saturday afternoons/evenings to do them on because of his schedule.

That's only 17 Saturdays total until the weekend of the wedding. This Saturday is engagement pictures, next Saturday is premarital counseling; and 3 more of the Saturdays will be taken up by the rest of the premarital counseling as well. He also had a meeting once a month that he is required to go to for his Police Reserves. Not to mention he's also supposed to go out on patrol at least once a month with the Reserves; which nixes another 4 days....and of course the weekend before the wedding is the bachelorette/bachelor parties...3 free weekends. That's it for him. We need to pick out tuxes/get him fitted, find his ring, meet with the venue and cateror, meet with the DJ...a bunch more things that I have on a list at home. See why I freaked out about the 4 months now?

Ah, Shana, take a deep breath. Your dress is beautiful and you will look beautiful, and you and Brandon will live happily ever after.

You will also have lots of stories to tell about your wedding and how frantic you were to get everything perfect.

But when you're sitting side by side in your rockers on the porch, looking at each other's grey heads, you will not be thinking about your wedding, 'cause there will be so many, many other happy memories in between. :D

She's right. It's just one day. Mine took 4 months to plan and it was a perfect day. Not because all went according to plan but because I got married to the right man for me.

And there are so many more memories that happen after: trips, kids (if you want them), times together ... and most importantly, someone to laugh with over the craziness of life, someone to turn to when you're ready to pop or need some perspective.

The best marriages bring out the best in you both. Most of the time. ;)

LOL; thanks for trying moon!

And SBW and Lynet; I know all that, I'm not worried if it is or is not going to be a perfect day. I'm not even frantic to get everything perfect. There are just certain things that need to get done and little time to do them. Not meeting with the caterer to pick out food is obviously something we can't not worry about. I guess I'm not looking for anyone to tell me not to worry about it; more of less just looking for a "wow! that is a lot going on!" Planning a formal wedding for 250 people for the reception is a lot of work; and since I'm working full time and Brandon is working full time and going to school full time it's HARD work.

I also have a MIA Maid of Honor right now...that's not helping. Seriously; she hasn't returned my phone calls or emails for two weeks now. My aunt has also been trying to contact her with no response...I'm not sure if I should be worried or annoyed.

And we're supposed to do our engagement pictures tomorrow and it's going to rain all day and be super windy; pushing things back another weekend...*sigh* I don't want to hear everything is going to be alright, honestly, I just want sympathy.

Sorry...I'm just in a really bad mood tonight because of the f'ing weather and MIA friend. :hissyfit:

Maybe your friend is going through issues of her own right now. I've gotten upset with people before only to find out someone in their family died or some other crisis that made me feel like a right prat for being upset with them.

On another happier note: We did these last Saturday; but I forgot my camera at the time. I was back up at my parent's tonight and I took pictures! Cost us $112.00 and 5 hours for 1 brides bouquet, 3 bridesmaids bouquets, 1 toss bouquet, 11 boutonnieres, and 9 coursages. (plus floral tape and ribbon)

ROTFL: No, a toss bouquet is actually normal. All the florists I talked to threw in a toss bouquet for the reception along with the bridal bouquet...mainly because the bridal bouquet is normally to big and heavy to throw. And besides, I want to keep mine! :p Although I do like Josh's idea of a decoy...hehe

Great looking flowers Shana. We still haven't done anything about flowers yet, so we probably should get cracking on that. The trouble is, we are going to get real flowers and try to arrange them ourselves somehow, but we won't be able to do that til closer to the day. I don't know, that's the one bit we haven't figured out yet.

That and Ash still hasn't gone to get the boys' shirts and ties. Why are men so frustrating? I've told him what he has to get, but he hasn't done it, meanwhile, I've been and picked out and lay-bied and picked up my girls dresses.

I think that's all we are waiting on anyway.

It's one of my favourite colours too!! The flash on the camera has shown it a bit lighter than it actually is, but it's still very pretty!

Haha, the funny thing is, he's almost completely grey, and I've not seen one grey yet! Mind you, I think he's been going grey since he was 13. According to him, it's his mums fault that he first went grey, and my fault that he keeps going grey .

I fully expected him to leave all of these details to the last minute, it's just so much more fun pestering him. We went and booked the honeymoon the other week, and after that was done, he said something along the lines of 'There's nothing else to bug me about now!'

Wanna bet????:p

I could bug a bug if I really tried I think.

I will definately post pictures when it's all done and hopefully, they'll turn out fine. I've just got our digital camera for use plus about 12 disposables I'll hand out on the night. Plus our video camera.

I really can't yell at him for leaving everything til the last minute, seeing as though I'm for ever doing that with my uni homework. Just this afternoon I said to myself, I must do some homework. I ended up simming instead :o. I don't think it was time wasted...

I'm so excited! And I just can't hide it. I'm about to loose control and I think I like it!!! :D :D :D

We just booked our honeymoon!

5 day cruise out of Fort Lauderdale, FL to Cozumel, Mexico and Belize City, Belize then back to Fort Lauderdale leaving 1/28! We fly out on the 27th and stay in a hotel that night, cruise on the 28, dock and fly back on the 2nd.

Brandon has never flown before and never even seen the ocean! He just finally decided this weekend that flying would be okay (he came to this realization on his own terms without me pressuring him) I'm almost more excited to watch his reaction as he sees the ocean for the first time! Before we were planning on going up North to a resort; well it's about the same price for the cruise/airfare as it would be for just the room up north!! Our meals are included in the cruise price of course so that saves us money; our only costs will be any alcohol, shore excursions, shopping, and tips for the staff on the ship!

Brandon sounds excited, but still a little nervous about it.

This will also be his FIRST vacation! He'll be almost 32 when we go on the cruise. Growing up his family never took vacations and he never went on them before on his own either. My family traveled a lot and I've traveled on my own multiple times. This will be an experience for him for sure!

You are going to have an awesome time I am sure. It's all very exciting isn't it?:hyper:

And yay for warm weather!!! :D

Allie, I am so envious of your cruise, I've been fascinated with Vanuatu since I saw a TV show when some natives of those islands came to the UK to experience British life ... they struck me as beautiful of spirit and charming.

Shana, I am just as envious of you. It will so thrilling for you to share in your new husband's delight and excitement of experiencing so many brand new things.

Very exciting! And your cruise just sound absolutely beautiful! Maybe in the future after he flies this one time I'll be able to convince him to go on a longer distance flight and take a cruise from Sydney...we'll see!

That's the main reason I'm so excited. To watch someone experience this all for the first time is going to be amazing. I've never been on a cruise before myself, but I've done quite a bit of traveling and seen the ocean multiple times. I'm just so happy that Brandon's first vacation can be someplace so exciting! And to see the ocean like it is down in the gulf with it's clear tourqouise waters...oh, he's going to be speechless!

And Josh...sorry; I can think of better things to do on our honeymoon than visiting with ANY friends. ;) :D :p

I support your sentiments of protecting your baby witch from the big bad world, SB ... and yes she is an awesomely cute angel ... possibly enhanced by a brilliantly captured snapshot, I might add. All the same I would now take down that picture. You don't want Google indexing it and someone else deciding it might make a cool avatar or a background wallpaper for a fairies website .... It's a sick planet people. :(

Josh. Weight gain occurs during pregnancy, not after. Ladies who fail to regain their figures after childbirth may have many problems for which to blame their problem with poundage. A majorly important factor is the support of a loving and supportive mate. Be very careful, Josh, that you don't cross the line into the territory of the boorish chauvinist. I accept that you have apologised and don't wish berate our beloved leader unnecessarily but this is an important point.

Shana, you're looking really beautiful and Brandon ... is um ... looking irresistible. There's something about a #1 buzz cut that send me all gooey

Other than that I'm doing ok. Ash just went and organised all of the food he had to order, I still have to go and get ties, but I think that is it. Plus do some extra nibbles from the shop, chips, lollies, etc. I really probably should take my dress in to be taken up too. Must get on that.

Two months left! Things are getting closer. A Warning: this is going to be a long post.

Right now I'm attempting to find a new location for us to shoot the professional pictures indoors as our other location is no longer going to work as they've implemented a policy that only the Bride and Groom can have their pictures taken there and for no longer than 30 minutes...what's up with that... So I'm hunting for new locations and There is one indoor park that we can do it at but I think we have to pay $75.00/hour just to take pictures there. I have to call on that tomorrow.

Our centerpieces are coming along. We're doing iced branches and we just started "icing" them the other day. If you're interested in what that looks like click on the picture for the slide show; from the start to what it looks like finished.

http://i46.photobucket.com/albums/f102/jupitershana/Wedding/Center%20Pieces/th_CenterPieces1CenterPieces2.jpg (http://s46.photobucket.com/albums/f102/jupitershana/Wedding/Center%20Pieces/?action=view&current=89edd36a.pbw)

Premarital counseling is still going fine and honestly I think our relationship has grown 200% better since starting it. I'm now a BIG supporter of pre-marital counseling. Our minister is slightly odd (75 year old gentleman) who sometimes is a tad forgetful, but we're confident he'll do a great job.

Almost fitting into the dress, for those who remember I had about 4 inches to go...just about 1 more inch until it fits. 1/2 an inch and hopefully it can be taken in. I'm down 53lbs overall!

Cake has been ordered: buttercream frosting, top layer is chocolate with chocolate icing, middle is marble with a chocolate moose, bottom is white with lemon filling, sheet cake is chocolate with mint moose...all to die for!

Invites will be sent out in about 3 weeks time; we're going to put them in the mailbox the same day as the bridal shower which is December 9th. I still have to get those all printed up, although the invite itself is made, just not the printed part.

Our guestbook has been ordered and arrived with the pictures of our engagement photo shoot in it...love it!

All dresses have been ordered and should be arriving soon. Flowers are all made. Cute story about one of our flower girls: Meaghan is kind of a tomboy already at age 3.5; she LOVES hockey. We weren't sure if she was going to be excited about being a flower girl or not. Well her mom (my cousin) has really been talking it up to her. About a month ago Meaghan was playing outside and my cousin looked out and saw her with a bucket and she was putting leaves in it. She then stood up and walked very slowly dropping the leaves on each side of her as she walked down the pretend aisle! I almost teared up when I heard that, it's just so darn cute!

Brandon's ring has been found and we're paying it off right now; it's two tone with the white gold in the center surrounded by the yellow gold. My wedding band is paid off and safetly stored.

Wedding party individuals have really stepped up, including the MIA maid of honor. She called and apologized about how she had been blowing me off and how awful she felt...it's all good now.

Things still to do: Meet with reception hall to finalize food and go over details. Meet with our DJ. Decide on photo shoot location. Finalize plans with limo driver. Print/mail invites. Print programs. Finish the rest of the branches (about 15 of 40 done so far). Make sure all the guys have gotten fitted for the tuxes. Find a dress for the bridal shower/rehearsal dinner/formal night for the cruise. Write our vows. Meet with friend who is the Day of Coordinator and go over all the details with her. Get Brandon's passport. Get marriage license....I'm sure there is more but I feel like my list has gone down quite a bit. I'm really start to look forward to the honeymoon so I can relax! Whew...I think that's the jist of all the updates I've got going on right now. I just needed to write that all down!

My mom and I sat down and made a list of things I need to do the next 1.5 weeks and it stressed me out a little but still makes it easier having a to-do list of what needs to be accomplished each day. I'm lucky that I am very organized with this all and it is making it quite a bit easier. Plus the 16 month engagement kind of helps too... Cute story: I had the list sitting on the counter so I would remember to take it to work. Brandon must have read over the list this morning since he didn't see it last night. He added something to the list: "Most important - Love my baby." Awww...warm fuzzies. He puts it all into perspective sometimes.

And so far all my hair is still in tact! I'm trying to figure out if I'll be able to make an appointment with my hair salon the morning after the wedding to get it all chopped off though...chin length. Right now it's below my shoulders about 2 inches. Not sure if I'll be able to finagle it though with having to be at the airport by 11:30am. I might be getting it chopped once we get to Florida but I would prefer my normal lady.

ROTFL...poor Ash! and also...ugh! Don't remind me about that whole process. That's another thing I need to do. Organize all the places I need to contact after the wedding to change my name. That's going to be a pain.

SHHH!!!!! It's a surprise ;) :p

Haha...I don't think I could be surprised by it. I've got a countdown in this signature, two of my calendars have a countdown on it, and I have a countdown on our wedding website! I'm fully aware that it's coming up...yikes!

And several quick updates:
Photos: Hehe...I can't stop giggling about this. Brandon and I are still going to go to the first park where they only allow the bride/groom for 1/2 hour to take pictures. After that we're swinging back to the hotel to pick up the rest of the bridal party. We're then going to my grandparent's senior apartment complex to take pictures! They have a beautiful grand staircase in the lobby as well as other pretty nooks and crannys and an indoor greenhouse. Well Grandma is the floor representative (about 40 apartments per floor!) so you know she'll be telling EVERYONE at the meetings what's going to be going on. She's already asked the director of the building and the director is "thrilled" with the idea! Hehe...we're going to have a crowd of elderly people watch us take our photographs and I'm sure we'll be getting lots of stories of their weddings and marriage advice! It will be fun though, and I'm sure very exciting for those who come to watch!

Makeup and hair has been sorted out; I'm getting my makeup airbrushed on! How cool is that!

Hair is going to be cut the morning after the wedding! My co-workers partner cuts hair and she's willing to do it super early on the 27th. (I probably won't sleep much that night anyway!) So we're going to either meet at my apartment or theirs at 7am and cut it all off. This is a surprise so no one but my mom will know what's going to happen...not even Brandon! But he'll be happy, he actually prefers my hair short.

Next weekend is going to be crazy!

Saturday: 9:30 Breakfast with my dad's side of the family (they do this every Saturday, we join whenever we can) 11:30 meet with Our Ceremony/Reception site to go over details, determine the menu, figure out placement for ceremony and the reception to follow. Brandon also has patrol that night.
Sunday: 9:30-11 premartial counseling, Bridal shower at 2:00, I need to be there by 1:30 for sure.

Sometime after we meet with the reception hall I also need to get the template for the invites ready; those need to go out next week already! I need to get those printed probably Monday AM next week to mail by next Tuesday! OMG! That's when reality hits that I'm getting married...realizing that the invites are going out soon!

Wow, I don't think I sat down for more than 5 minutes this weekend!

First the bad news: On Thursday my maid of honor called me and backed out of the wedding due to financial reasons. Apparently flying to see a guy she's only know for 6 months every 2-3 weeks is more important than a friendship, so she has no money. 7 weeks to the wedding...thanks. Got that all figured out though. Best friend Robin who was a bridesmaid but doing all the work of the Maid of Honor duties is officially the Maid of Honor now. My other friend who was going to do our readings has agreed to be a bridesmaid. She will be wearing Robin's old dress and we found a new dress for Robin...more further down on that.

Now for all the good, productive stuff, we got done this weekend.

Friday: Mom and I got together and addressed envelopes and numbered the RSVPs so we know who is whos if they come back without a name on it.

Saturday: Breakfast in the morning with the family, then we went to the post office to weigh the invites and get stamps! After that it was off to the reception/ceremony location to meet with the coordinator. We got everything figured out including the time line, decorations, food, preliminary headcount...everything done! Brandon even came with, he hasn't been able to do a whole lot of wedding stuff because of full time school and full time work so that was nice to have him there and get his opinion on things.

After the reception meeting, Mom and I met up with Robin. We went to the Mall of America and ended up at Nordstrom's Rack about 20 minutes after we got there. The other girls are wearing an Alfred Angelo cornflower blue separates (separate top and bottom) dress. We ended up finding a separates dress in almost the same color and there was only one dress there but it was in the Robin's size! And it was only $43! You could honestly probably switch the top of the new dress with the top of the old and I don't think anyone would notice, it's that close in color. We are still amazed by that! After dinner I got home and worked on printing invites/insert cards/stuffing envelopes from 7pm-2:30am!

Sunday: Our premarital counseling was canceled due to a family emergency by our minister, so I finished up the invites.

Shower was at 2:00 and it was a blast! I asked for no gifts and we just played some really fun games: Bridal Bingo, No saying the word wedding, Toilet Paper dress competition, and when Brandon stopped by they had us race to put on 6 items of clothing while blindfolded (honeymoon game). Brandon won, but he looked so funny! Pink nightgown and blue bra over it with one pink sock. It was great! Just ask SBW or Sacharissa, they were both there and I'm sure they were laughing their heads off at us as well.

Tonight I wrote out all the thank yous for the shower and mailed them. We also put our invites in the mail before Brandon left for work! I'm so excited! Looking forward to getting back all the RSVPs!

It was a great weekend, but man am I exhausted!

Yes, the shower was a lot of fun: thank you for inviting us! Witch Baby had a good time too though she was a little disappointed that her bridal gown creation didn't win--not surprised, though, the winning creation was pretty spectacular. Robin was a good sport, being our model. Sacharissa and I were permitted to hold toilet paper in place while the couture master worked.

She loves her snowmen, though (won them as a door prize).

The food was good, too! I had more cake than I needed cuz it was so yummy. :o

LOL

As Sach said at the shower, "This is my first forum wedding!" BTW: she gave me the cutest card with pictures of two of her most famous sims kissing on the outside and the instead mentioned both pleasantview and nightlife! I LOVED it!

And SBW, sorry witchbaby was disapointed. I was glad she ended up winning a door prize though! The snowman she won are so cute!

Tell Brandon we agreed that he was a very good sport. Not many men have the self confidence to put on a bra in front of 25 women. :p

As for WB being disappointed, it's OK. She hates to lose at anything. We're working on that. She had a very good time at the party. She's still trying to think of names for her new snowman friends.

Actually I'm sitting here trying to figure out what I have left to do. I've come up with a list that's only about 10 things long. And most of those have appointments set already. The only real projects I can work on right now are writing our vows, and the wedding programs, but I don't really need to worry about the programs until the week before the wedding.

Otherwise...
Dress fitting 1/5/08
Apply for marriage license: 1/7/08 Pick it up: 1/14/08
Final meeting with photographer: 1/13/08
Work Bridal Shower: 1/15/08
Hair and makeup trials, bachelorette party, and my birthday(!): 1/19/08
Final meeting with caterer and reception hall: 1/21 (need final guest count by then)
Hair cut and highlighted: 1/24/08
Order food for rehersal dinner: 1/24/08
Decorate Hall/Rehersal and dinner: 1/25/08
Get Married! 1/26/08
Leave for Honeymoon! 1/27/08

Meet with DJ at some point, phone message left for him.
Final premarital counseling meeting, phone message left for him.

Hard to believe that one month from today I'll be a married woman and on my way to my honeymoon!

edit: and I don't know what's going on with my ticker. I've tried to correct it several times but I think something is wrong from their side of things.

Oh. My. God. Shana, you're getting married in A MONTH!!!!!!!! Eeek!!

*me runs around the room squealing with excitement*

*giggles and squeals with muffin* hehe...there you go getting me all excited again! :p but EEEEKKK!!! You're right! Less than one month now!!!!

Edit: Forgot to add my story!

So I'm going through a company that actually contracts their DJs, so basically it's a bunch of smaller DJ companies that work under a large umbrella. We filled out a questionaire on what kind of personality we're looking for. We do want an outgoing DJ, but classy at the same time.

I found out who was supposed to be my DJ today, a guy named Dave. I called and left him a message.

He called back later and when I picked up this phone this is what I got:

"Hello, this is Shana."

Cheesy announcer DJ voice (all in caps because he was seriously yelling over the phone) "HEEELLLLOOOO!!!!!! THIS IS DYYYNNNNO DAAAVVVVE! I JUST WANTED TO RETURN YOUR PHONE CALL TO LET YOU KNOW THAT DYYYYNNNNNOOO DAAAAVVVVE AND HIS LOVELY ASSISTANT THE SNNNAAAAKKKEEE LADY WILL BE AT YOUR WEDDING!"

"umm...*giggle* okay, did you say Dyno Dave?"

"YES I DID! THAT'S MY NAME, AND MY ASSISTANT GOES BY THE NAME OF THE SNAKE LADY!"

I'll spare you the rest of the conversation (it was short) but he kept referring to himself in third person as "DYYNNNOOOO DAAAVVVEEEE!" I got off that phone call and kind of just stared at the phone in my hand for a minute giggling and just in overall shock!

Needless to say I've called our company back and relayed the converstation with them to which the lady said, "oh my..." They are reassigning me a new DJ.

But hey, made me laugh for quite a while!

OMG! 10 days!?!

Update on the DJ situation. We had a second one asssigned to us. We were supposed to meet with him this weekend on Sunday at 11. Seemed very nice and well put together over the phone. He never showed. Called the DJ manager back. He's going to be our DJ now to make sure that nothing else happens! Whew...meeting with him tonight.

Had my work bridal shower yesterday. That was very nice of them to do that. And WAY too much food.

Dress is being altered, should be done this Sunday. Bachelorette party (and my birthday!) is this Saturday night. I'm looking forward to that. Then next week is the big kick off for getting ready! OMG! I still can't believe it's almost here!

Nope, none of that for me, thanks! Actually it's going to be very low key. We're going to eat at my favorite resturant and then back to my MoH's place for some fruity girly drinks and just chilling there for the rest of the night. Nice and low key. Brandon is having his the same day. Dinner, Comedy Club (jealous!), Bowling (I might suggest this to the girls), and then of course a strip club (boys will be boys).

Yay Shana only 7 days left! How exciting! I hope your hens night was fantastic! That was the only problem with doing a surprise, no hens night, but my MoH is organising a belated one for me.

Yes boys will be boys. I honestly don't see the appeal of strippers, but obviously I'm not a bloke so I wouldn't :D.

I went to a family member's hen night a few years ago and it was a (very famous and well known company's 'adult' lingerie and more) party, complete with unmentionables. I think I was scarred for life LOL. To finish the night off, a male stripper came to the house and oh my, lol.

Of course, I was completely innocent all night, unlike some. LOL :p

Alrighty everyone! I'm off for the wedding whirlwind!!! I'm swamped all day tomorrow and probably won't be back on until after the honeymoon is over. Wish me good luck, everything is going VERY smoothly so far and I'm relatively stress free at this point. Looking forward to seeing SBW and Sacharissa at our wedding on Saturday, and wishing everyone else would be able to make it, fly to MN and I won't blame you if you crash the wedding!

I'M GETTING MARRIED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!! :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D
