Price is $49.99. Please ignore the fact it says Windows 98/ME. It indeed will support Windows XP, and most likely Windows Longhorn, however I can not say the same that it will support Windows 95 or Windows 2000.

I think it varies from company to company. Best is to follow a checkout procudure at one of those stores or call their support line to see.

I'm glad they've set the price for pre-orders already because I was worried it MIGHT cost more for sims 2... think about all the WORK they had to put into it and how that could mean it costs maxis a lot more money to get it created... I'm glad it looks like it'll be about the same cost and price even though they had to develop a whole new game with a TON more details....

I went and looked, I LOVED the new fountains... but it's not worth it for me to get the game JUST for a few new objects... :p Should be GREAT for people coming in new to the game because now they won't have to track down the older expansion packs, I'm guessing there weren't enough out there left for everyone who wanted them anyway. :)

I'm almost definitely not going to play the sims once the sims 2 comes out anyway, so I don't really care about new items. I've barely played the sims now that I know about the sims 2, they just feel like dolls and I keep thinking about how much more you can do with the Sims 2 and get bored or frustrated with my game. Does anyone else have that problem?

I'll most likely not preorder Sims 2. Harder to send back the item if it's defective, etc. I'll just drive to the Walmart near my place and pick up a copy, they're good at holding stuff for me since I'm out-of-town.

I think I would go to another source about now, and then mention to the manager of Gamestop the next time you are browsing in the store the name of the other store that was will to place the advance order for you. And then don't buy anything. Stores hate losing regular customers.

Yes, it looks like Maxis has changed their plans for when to release the game, so it's no longer in the first quarter of the year, or Spring 2004, it's in the Second Half or Later Half of the year. :( I hope they get everything sorted out and fixed and working right by then! It should be REALLY incredible by the time it comes out now! Maybe... dare I dream... maybe they'll get so many of the bugs out they won't have to release a patch and it'll run like a dream on any computer with the minimum requirements!!! :D

Well, I can't say if you would like it or not, but I just cancelled my subscription to Sims Online. :( I didn't like having to study ALL the time for my sims to have skills, and I didn't like the competition trying to get people to come to your house instead of another house. It was a lot like a bunch of chat rooms with interactive avatars so if you like chat rooms and hanging out with people online you might like the game for that part of it. I've decided to keep the game itself in case I want to subscribe again later. You might want to look up all the info on it and talk to other players who have played it to see if it seems like you would really enjoy it or not. :)

In one of Lucy's letters last month she said that BodyShop was in beta testing and that they were planning for it to be released "next month" (ie May). That was assuming it passed the beta testing, which is supposedly going well.

However, no one from Maxis has yet given a specific date. Some people are guessing the SimDay during E3, others are figuring the Simday after E3. Others are sticking to the now removed "May 10" which Gamespot had suggested (which is a Monday.)

So, with any luck, it will be out sometime in the next 3 weeks. ;-)

I think the best way is to just preorder it. I waited for Unreal Tournament 2004 and I went to every computer place in my area and they were sold out for two weeks. I finally broke down and ordered it online and it still come before stores had it available.

Maxis has not been changing the date. They only changed it really once (from spring/first quarter 2004 to the real date: September 17th.)

If you saw September 14, then you were looking at an unofficial site. (Probably the same kind of place where you got a March date, which Maxis never said. They told us in January it would be some time in the second half of 2004.)

The reason they had to move it from spring/first quarter to September is that the game was just not ready. Even as early as October they were saying that it probably would have to be released later than they had figured in May2003 when they were first talking about it.

However, BodyShop (formerly known as CaSIE) is out. You can get it from the Sims 2 official site, under "showcase."

Perhaps its sorta okay for the delay, cause I didnt figure out the sims 2 was coming out until like a few months ago. Now ill have time to get a comp that can run the game, as well as enough money to actually get the thing.

I wouldn't trade any of my sims. Because I'd rather collect all the the sims and play them when I need something very stimulating. But I wouldn't stop playing the sims 1 because the sims 2 came out. I'd continue on playing the sims 1. So I like playing the sims. It helps me to build a better use of a house!

I would never trade my Sims 1 games in. BUT that's only because the Sims 2 will only work on the better computer which is used by everybody while the computer I use is just below the requirements so then I have a game to play when somebody else uses that better computer.

Maybe... But I dont think they'd be collectible for the gameplay (they'll probably have like, The Sims 27 by the time that happens). Anyways, I lent out the original Sims and Hot Date, and i haven't gotten them back. I know who has them, but i won't bother. I probably won't play them after the Sims 2 comes out anyways.

I've played sims1 with every expansion and all of them brought a few months more of enjoyment to the game. Personally I liked Hot Date, Superstar, and Vacation the best. I thought the pets could have been a lot better because they were more independent than real pets. But I haven't played S1 in months and have been waiting for S2 to come out.

Truthfully I have been playing the sims 1 because if it wasn't for the sims 1 there wouldn't be the sims 2 and the sims 1 has improved my house building and new ways of satisfying my sim. I never give up on a game because a sequal is coming out if you going to be a true fan of The Sims then you have to love them both not love one because it's newer then the other because of the different things that is going on. The only reason why I haven't played in weeks is because I have to work and take care of my pets. But I never put the sims 1 down because the sims 2 is coming out! I still play my sims 1 and getting better at it more often! So if you don't know how to satisfy your sim how are you going to do it in the sims 2?

Well, we had to learn how to satisfy our sims in the Sims 1, so how much harder would it be for the Sims 2. There are a lot of new features about making your sim happy in life, so we'll probably have to learn all over again!
