I was reading an article in the newspaper today where they showed new NASA pictures where there is this red cloud:
http://antwrp.gsfc.nasa.gov/apod/image/0511/Mountains_spitzer_f20.jpg
Explanation: This fantastic skyscape lies at the eastern edge of giant stellar nursery W5, about 7,000 light-years away in the constellation Cassiopeia. An infrared view from the Spitzer Space Telescope, it features interstellar clouds of cold gas and dust sculpted by winds and radiation from a hot, massive star outside the picture (just above and to the right). Still swaddled within the cosmic clouds, newborn stars are revealed by Spitzer's penetrating gaze, their formation also triggered by the massive star. Fittingly dubbed "Mountains of Creation", these interstellar clouds are about 10 times the size of the analogous Pillars of Creation in M16, made famous in a 1995 Hubble Space Telescope view. W5 is also known as IC 1848 and together with IC 1805 it is part of a complex region popularly dubbed the Heart and Soul Nebulae. The Spitzer image spans about 70 light-years at the distance of W5.
Either way, I was thinking of how they would, or if they woud, implement intergalactic phenomenons (sp?) such as black holes, green/red/blue suns which have different effects on the galaxies they are in. Aswell as black holes or colliding galaxies creating new galaxies. How about catastrophes on your planet such as meteors that whipe out half of the species on your planet and boil the seas!? Wouldn't that be fun?! :>

I'm pretty sure there'll be black holes! Yes, I am! Will Wright said that!
and I have this little idea in my mind that it would be possible to have "disasters" like they have in SimCity ( I mean it IS the same creator ) and then you could just "disable" the disasters for those who wants to make a perfect little harmonic happy place LIKE I WANT

What a beautiful photograph. I hope Spore will include images like that in the background while viewing outer space!
Anyway, most likely there will be natural disasters similar to those from SimCity, but I am hoping for even more, with more unique effects and much more variety ...
All I can say is... We will have to wait and see for ourselves...

I think : disasters that can may MUTATE your creature into something completeling even more unique!! maybe give them a head start on something!!!
what do you think?
and should something like that even be called disasters ? :laughing2:

Yeah! And disasters that would give the creatures special powers... Maybe rare disasters that help evolve the creature quicker. I don't know... But how about the disasters also destroy the village, or something, so there would be some kind of downside to it, and not completely a miracle.

Also, earthquakes shifting the planet form of the continents, some planets have more shifting than others.
Weaker atmospheres allow more meteors to hit the earth and stronger, thicker atmospheres allow less sunlight. Volcanos! Some planets have more, some have less. Floods, tsunamis, forest fires, tornadoes and hurricanes! So many possibilities.

 If the game gets that technical, science classes at schools might probably have a new requirement for students to play Spore as a daily assignment! :laughing2: Still, I'm sure Spore will have all those natural disasters you'd mentioned, plus even more...

it could be cool!! having spore as a science project...
"how we elvolved" and what would happen if our atmosphere was just a little little thicker or thinner!!
I LOVE the idea about disasters that could turn into miracles :D

You could have every student put a creature that they created and changed and put them on a planet and see who survives natural selection. Perhaps a game mode where the computer generates fitting evolving parts to fit the sorroundings and the orientation which you followed. So all you say is "omnivore / herbivore / carnivore" and the game does the rest, filtering out who would succeed on the planet. Something like that would be interesting, so you don'T play, you just observe!

I think that it's possible just to observe it! I mean. Just if the creates automaticly eats..
and then when they evolve you make a few changes and no more  for the lazy ones :laughing2:
ahhh! I hope the team is working on this game RIGHT NOW!!
Imagine the day we hear it's gone gold!

So many interesting ideas and concepts... it's kind of making me dizzy...well theres still alot of info. to be passed out before we have a sturdy foundation of what "actual" game play is...but yet one can dream...

Yes, I'm kind of wondering how the city building etc. will work. Is it going to be like Populous: The Beginning (which I loved), or more like an RTS where you can 'buy' your units, buildings... like Age of Empires?
I hope the game resembles Populous in some ways, that would fit in with the 'natural' theme.

But imagine if you will if on your very own ball of flowing magma, and various gases that money was not a factor...that survival it's self was the only reward...

I ... ONLY .. think that it will a bit like Age of Empires, since in the video he sayed something about "money" or "gold pieces" or whatever it will be called

now that sounds like a really cool idea! and I think it will work like that in the first stages!

They'd rather call that a "soul" :silly:

And abot city buildings and such:
As we're not sure if the game will use volatilizable currency, we can't really tell how your ability to build architecture will be determinded.
It might also work like level-limited buildings:
Your ability tou build an "X" building will be based on your creature(s) level.

Imagine the day we hear it's gone gold!
When it's gone gold, hopefully they will ship off millions, and we wont have an Xbox 360 scenario.
Oh, and about currency: If you look on the offical Spore pictures, and on the Tribal or City one, look on the top left corner; you will see a Simoleon symbol. So I guess we will just have money :-X
Though I would prefer a Populous style game, yes :)

I wonder that if the PLAYER can be evolved enough, as opposed to the creatures, one could perform miracles or horrible disasters? VERY similar to Black & White (and maybe other godly games, I don't know), a player could set up temples and churches for his or her creatures to worship him/her. It would be so awesome. The godlier you get, the more miracles you can perform. The more demonic you get, though, destroying your creatures, forcing them to realize their fears, the more disasters you can perform. The higher a level you can get either way. The more experienced you get as a god or a devil.
HmMmMmMmm...
I think it'd be fun to own one planet that worships you as a god and another that's forced to worship you or else you'll kill them. Haha, man, I am so evil.

Since nothing is sure yet, we shouldn't be too sure about anything we see, i remmember seeing a debt screenshot from The Sims 2 a long while before it came out...and then they got alot of things out, which of course ruined the fun since there was such a HUGE hipe..
We can fantasize and dream, but remmember not to let that get too far, that might leave you disappointed after 2 months ;)

I'm afraid there are many people already doing that. Yes, this is one of the coolest concepts to come out like... ever, but it's still concept. I worry for this game's future.
Then again, Will Wright is pretty good on delivering what he promises, unlike certain other game design geniuses *koff koff Peter Molyneux koff koff*

Mr.Heat, I know that, and it was horrible, lol. But that's really not so bad. I mean, take the rain, in the commercials when the Sims were kissing in it. Sure, in the Sims games we do not have rain as a default weather, but we can definitely custom download it from other players' websites. It's pretty cool. And I am expecting this same kind of thing to be with Spore, if honestly we do see or hear about something that's in the game but ends up just being another myth/fantasy. It probably will not be so bad, if you know the right places to look for custom content.
IF Spore will allow custom content. :indifferent:

You can almost ALWAYS make custom content. It's just a matter of how long it takes to figure out how to do it, and also a matter of how difficult it is. Sometimes it's hard and as such not much is created, but it's very nearly always possible.
