I can tell you right now that I'm raving on the new graphics engine plus the new lighting engine!! It will probably make skinning and object making easier!

Well, I'm ranting that I don't understand the point of having a 360-degree rotation while objects can still only be placed at right (90-degree) angles...

Perhaps there is a 360 rotation as you move around with the sim...sorta like a sims's eye point of view.
its probably a 360 rotation around the center of the screen.. has there been an article about it?

It's going to be like the console version of The Sims, where you have a 360-degree rotation of what's on the screen (so instead of being stuck with only 4 rotations, you can view the stuff on the screen from any angle.

oooo....hmmm I don't think maxis will disappoint us...cause I think from a few video previews over at IGN, it is somewhat like that.

I'm raving about the graphics and just the whole game. From the videos and screen shots I've seen, the game looks far better than the console(s) version(s). If you would like to see some screen shots i have saved, email me at DesireInMyEyes@aol.com

I think this 2.0 version of the sims will be the great from what has been seen, but all the videos i've seen have been E3 maxis released so it looks GREAT. There is absolutely nothing to rant about.

I can't believe all the work maxis has actually put into this game. I hope that a lot of the problems in the original sims and its expansion packs will be old news when it comes to sims 2!

There will always be bugs and glitches in everything written. Even Windows has bugs and glitches so I don't expect The Sims or any other game, software written to be bug free.

I was sad to hear that too, I figured if they could make it "rain" for the Makin Magic pack it shouldn't have been TOO hard to control where it rained in sims 2!! ...oh well... sigh....

In Sims1 Makin' Magic it was raining inside the house too at times. I still remember wondering why it was raining in the kitche of one of my Sims houses until I realized that someone had made a kitchen implement by cloning off of a plant which required water. I just laughed when I saw it. But it did look pretty silly.

Now that IS funny!!! hahaha  It's good you could figure out WHY it was raining in your kitchen though! Guess we should be careful about objects cloned from plants then... or maybe I'll make it rain inside on purpose sometimes.. heehee....

The making magic rain was spell inflicted and rained only on waterable plants.

I suppose since they aren't planning on having magic etc. in the sims 2 (or at least not till an expansion pack) they wouldn't have any way of having an effect on weather anyway... oh well. :) Maybe they'll have an expansion pack with weather and seasons at a later date... ;) Imagine clicking just once to select Spring, Summer, Fall, or Winter, and having all the plants, ground cover, etc. change. :D Or maybe I'm the only one with this fantasy... haha. I spend too much time in sims 1 changing out all the trees and ground tiles to make it a snowy White Christmas. :p

In one of the (several) interviews (or chats) I read yesterday Neil Young (or at least I think he was the one) was saying that they had graphics problems with weather but that they might have it for an EP. Same with cars.

So, do you think it's too early to start making up wish-lists for what we'd like to see in expansions for sims 2? ;)

What I wan't:
-Pets. (Wonder if I can make a Kirby skin... (>`.`)> )
-School. (You know what I mean.)
What I don't wan't:
-Cars. (This isn't a racing simulation game...)
-Magic. (Sorry, I just thought it was kind of cheap >.>)

If they ever did cars I wouldn't want it to work like a racing simulation game, I'd like it if they could have a parked car and click on it for the option to get in and drive to the neighbors and visit though!! ;)
