Sims can't use toilets?!?

Hello, I used to have Sims 2 (family fun stuff, glamour life, university, nightlife, open for business and pets) on this PC, but the hard drive blew so I hot a newer, bigger better one.

Today I put the games back on. Everything seemed to be fine (the machine has been woking fine for a few months now, this is just first time I had to think of games again) until I started putting families in Pleastville....

None of the sims can use the toilet and they are crying and wetting themselves after they fruitless try to sit and then get jerked a few paces away.

Went to bebug mode, and there is an error message, so I went to the log it told me it made, but I don't understand any of that, all I know is that neither the expensive nor cheap toilets will allow my poor people to use them.

Any advice?

Sounds like a jump bug. Have you downloaded any of the patches yet?

Have you by chance also downloaded anything else for the game like hacks, mods, lots, skins, or clothing? Sometimes hacks will interfer with the game and cause things like this.

Nope.. no downloads of any sort yet ... didn't it check for patches during that "checking to see if sims is up to date" part right after the install was complete?

No hacks, I'm not a code junkie, so unless it is the unzip and it installs itself type of mod, I usually don't mess with it.

Honestly I'm not positive, doesn't hurt to download the patches here either way. If it's already up to date than it won't hurt it, if it needs the update then you'll have it. http://thesims2.ea.com/update/

I know that I bought Bon Voyage before the patch for that came out and didn't install it until after the patch was released. It did tell me my game was up to date at that point but I still hadn't downloaded the patch.

Check that out and see if it helps.
