April 2007, we launched a library here at WorldSims to house and encourage writing at WorldSims. We have a myriad of talent writers here and many have utilized our service over the course of these past 8 months.
Originally I had the library scheduled up for revaluation at the beginning of the new year, however certain recent events have pushed this up on the timetable and thereby this forum now exists to reevaluate one of our key services to our members.
I'd like to note that the library development has not stalled. It's progressing more so behind the scenes in debugging code, and ensuring adequate security is in place. More of the front end items have not really changed and we plan to continue to change things up.
Mirelly has raised these issues (http://forums.worldsims.org/blog.php?b=92#comment154) in a blog comment, so we will start from there.
Genres:
The genre concept was an early organization concept designed to categorize stories into certain areas. While intended to be a base framework for the library, it was most certainly not the final way we want to present the stories. There does need to be some sort of categorization system in mind (Love, Friendship, Adventure, etc.)
What idea of categorization do you as an author have in mind?
Presentation:
I'd like to know how writers would like their work be presented and organized? How would you like them displayed?
Promotion:
We're testing out the Featured Story module right now in the library. Some of you may have seen it in action, but we're still debugging some aspects of it.
We've also enabled a setting we've been testing in the backend rewriting the URLs a bit to be more user friendly. They now contain more information about your story and chapter wise. It gives a face to your story, and merely not just some identification number in the past.
What other ideas for promotion do you have?
Please continue to post feedback suggestions, ideas, concepts and other ideas that needs to be addressed.
I highly recommend creating a new thread (http://forums.worldsims.org/newthread.php?do=newthread&f=8) for each new topic thus allowing me to read and address each comment and feedback posted. :)
Thanks!
