Job Description:
Online Marketing & Community Manager, Spore
Location: EA Maxis, Emeryville

The Community Manager is responsible for developing and executing an online communications program to acquire new customers and retain existing customers in the Spore franchise.

Core to the responsibilities of the Community Manager is the fostering of relationships with key community leaders and expansion of the online community base overall. In this role, the Community Manager can be an effective voice of the community, informing product development and marketing strategy by providing real-time insight and recommendations. The Community Manager can also mobilize the community to amplify Spore?s communications and extend PR and marketing reach in an organic fashion.

On a tactical level, the Community Manager partners with Spore?s Online Producers and EA?s CRM team to define web site components for acquisition and cross-sell programs; develop online communications rollout strategy; create and post content; moderate message boards and chats; define and run community events; and track the performance of all online marketing activities. Additional job duties may include community plan presentations, documentation, event prize fulfillment, asset management, and general web site updates.


Responsibilities:
Manage and execute online community programs around the Spore franchise.
Draft integrated community communication plans and a messaging calendar with Spore marketing and PR input.
Execute integrated plans utilizing the official Spore product site, social networks, email/newsletters, forums, fan sites, file distribution, and Community Leaders to amplify key messages.
Interact with Spore Marketing, Spore Online Producers, EA CRM teams and others to participate in online product marketing strategy development and launch activities.
Measure the success of online community programs through indicators such as web traffic, email registration, game pre-orders and purchase, and community forum activity.Qualifications
Bachelor's degree required.
1-3 years experience in online journalism, online marketing, or equivalent.
Demonstrated, expert writing skills. Samples will be required.
Experience with successfully managing multiple projects and working directly with cross-functional teams.
Comprehensive understanding of online community as it relates to delivering business objectives.
Online community expertise from a user standpoint. Online gameplay experience a plus.
Excellent interpersonal, verbal communication and presentation skills.
Good understanding of the gaming industry and social networks
