On Sim Logics http://groups.yahoo.com/group/simlogics/ there is now a section for objects that help in making a school for your neighbourhood children.
These objects are still under development, so regard it as a sort of beta test.
There is a bell (cloned from the fire alarm) that calls the children to the lot - you can choose co-ed or single sex. It can also be used manually or with a timed start and finish to the school day. While school is in session, the children are kept on the lot instead of going home when they are bored by some background processing done by the bell, but just occasionally one slips away - they do truant in real life too (-:
The bell also stops the school bus coming and slows down the grades drop
when a child doesn't study. No real child ends up at military school just because he's been off school a week. It also stops the grades going down to F in any case. This means you can use it in a family home if you don't want the kids to go to school.
The chair on the other hand can be used along with the bell to raise a child's grades. While school is in session the chairs can be allocated to individual children via the bell's menu, and the bell has an option to make the kids sit in their chairs and learn.
