i've never seen this before. can anyone help me?

i've tried and tried and tried but i guess i'm just too frustrated to figure this out
so here's all the system stuff and my problem... please help me? this is my last resort and i was hoping someone on here may have seen this frustrating issue? :confused:

10. Game Detail: The Sims2 and Sims2 Pets expansion pack

Nature of the Problem: When I first tried to download the pets expansion on my old computer, along with the university expansion, everything went fine until the walls started to blink red and then continued to do so. We tried uninstalling university to make pets work but that didn't help, and since that computer didn't have internet we couldn't download any patches we thought might help. so now with this new computer we are trying it again. this time i've even just left out university since i'm wondering if they just can't work together? because now the walls don't blink that horrendous red, thank god, but whenever i try to select anything while playing or even just scrolling over objects or my sim or anything really... certain areas show up blue/blue gray instead of just staying the same. it's hard to explain, but i guess it's just the graphics won't work like normal and i've tried everything i can think of which really isn't a lot since i'm computer illiterate and i would really appreciate help. i'm at my wit's end.

Do you mean when you're trying to install it or are you actually trying to download it in a pirated form?
If you're talking pirated form then we can't help you but if you mean installing it I believe it's because the video chipset is having problems with Pets.
Try turning your graphic options down and see if it helps.
What resolution are you playing at? try running it at a 800x600 resolution and see if it helps.
Turn your smooth edges down too.
If you do get it going then you can try bumping up your graphics options a little at a time until you find a place where it will work.
You're probably going to find problems playing large lots after changing your graphics options though.

alright i'll try that, thanks. and i'm definately installing, i don't like the idea of pirating. i'll get back if i have more issues. thanks!!!!

well, tried lowering all the options down and they were already as low as it gets. and i tried changing it to 800x600 but that didn't really do anything to help. i'm just so frustrated. i would go back on the old computer and redownload the pets cuz i found out how to fix the blinking walls but after seeing how nice it could be on this computer, if not for that stupid thing it does, i don't want to go back. grrr. any other suggestions? anything i can download or type in anywhere to make it so it just stays the same and doesn't spaz when scrolled over??

You might go over to Ea's support page and see what they suggest for red blinking walls.
First off are you playing on a laptop?
If you are ignore everything I'm typing below as most laptops can't be upgraded but if you're playing on a desktop then read on.
other than finding out if you can upgrade to a video card by
1. finding out what expansion slot you have on your motherboard for a video card and
2. finding out how many watts total your power supply output is.
To find out what you can upgrade to in the order of video card expansion slots you'll need to pop open the side of the case and look at the motherboard for a long brown,black or blue plastic slot.
Look at the picture below and see if you have anything like this.
Now while the case is open look up in the top of the case for a metal looking box with lots of wires coming out of it.
On the side of it should be a tag that says total watts or maximum wattage and a number like 350 and so on.
You'll need at least a 400 watt power supply to upgrade to a really good card.
