Hi Suite:

Intel(R) Pentium(R) 4 CPU 2.00GHz
512MB RAM (8 MB SHARED for Video)

You might need a stronger video card. However the processor speeds should hopefully offset the amount of calculations needed to run The Sims 2.

Let's recheck after some final specs get released from Maxis.

You might need to upgrade to DirectX 9.0 (http://microsoft.com/directx/) to make The Sims 2 operate properly.

Intel Extreme Graphics (is that the shared video?) use DVMT-which can allocate upto 64mb of memory just to support graphicsp-The Sims 2 will work with at least 32mb DVMT allocated memory

Extreme Graphics is shared. Penalities of using shared memory is that it utilizes your core system memory on your motherboard to make its functions work. That means less memory for your computer and more memory for your video which can hinder your performance.

You are better of sticking with a dedicated memory stack for your video and not using shared memory.

Extreme Graphics is also a nonT&L Card.

Shared memory = memory from system
