 Bought the Spore from the store, installed disc. After starting program I recieve the generic windows message that "Spore has experienced a problem and will shut down, do you want to send a report?"

I'm running Windows XP Home, and the machine is a 5 year old Pent 4, 2.35 Ghz HP. Noticed I didn't have enough video memory and bought new 256 M AGP card. I'm still getting the same message.

I've reinstalled with Virus Protection Off, same problem. The EA manager program runs.

Help!!

Would you please post up a dxdiag report?

I'm not liking this error message.

DirectX Files Tab: The file system.dll is missing! You should reinstall DirectX to get the latest version.

Might be worth updating DirectX to the latest 9.0c version.

Also, Open C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\SPORE\Sporebin

Look for some text documents with the text "Exception Report". Upload them would you?

:D I found a link that suggested changing compatability to Windows 95, and it worked.

I right clicked on the Spore Icon, opened properties then changed it on the Compatibility Tab.

I still think it's a good idea to update the Direct X.

Thanks for your response.

Great to hear that! I hope you'll stick around and join in on our other Spore discussions as well :)
