View Full Version : Natural Disasters

timz2rules

ok, in the game TheSims, what disasters have some of you people come across, and do any of you think it would be a wise idea to get natural disasters (floods do not count, those happen when briliant sims break things) but say violent rain storms or something like that...

ManagerJosh
09-23-2002, 03:08 AM
Firestorms perhaps?

FaeLuna
09-23-2002, 05:31 AM
hmmm swarms of locusts could come and eat all the vegetation, that would be especially good for the Unleashed expansion as you're trying to grow the veggies there... snowstorms could snow your sims in so they have to shovel the driveway in time to escape for work/school or they'd miss a day.... termites could show up and start eating the walls away so you'd lose a section of wall every so often till you got them exterminated.... hurricanes could knock all the trees down and tear up the lawn....

ManagerJosh
09-23-2002, 10:19 AM
maybe we could have it where sims get boils and other rare diseases. :D

Helén
09-23-2002, 11:41 AM
Oooooooo.... mean... poor sims
I'm game.. as long it's not happening all at one time.. I would like to get them a chance to repair...

ManagerJosh
09-23-2002, 05:32 PM
that sounds um...weird...Reparing Sims? it sounds like they were androids or something and not living digital creatures.

timz2rules
09-23-2002, 09:13 PM
ims aren't humans, but then we would have to get a whole doctor thing...they should make a new expansion, the seventh "The Sims: Disasters" that would be interesting...

ManagerJosh
09-23-2002, 10:54 PM
We could star Timz :D

timz2rules
09-24-2002, 04:54 PM
oh yes, i always seem to cause harm and break things, don't i Josh? :P

Helén
09-24-2002, 05:42 PM
LOL
Sims repairing things of couse...
Well the we do need : Sims Hospital ( without logicalskill?)
:laugh::laugh::laugh:

Bryan
09-24-2002, 05:45 PM
IT would be cool if you could have sims with Tatoos

timz2rules
09-24-2002, 05:46 PM
they would prolly need a logic skill *clears his throat* due to the fact i would star in it (apparently) I would need a hosptial :P

Bryan
09-24-2002, 05:47 PM
LOL

timz2rules
09-24-2002, 05:47 PM
dude, i do belive you can get skins that have tatoos on them, and deluxe has that skin thing, so i'm sure you could make some on there

FaeLuna
09-25-2002, 12:46 AM
I've seen skins with tattoos before, it's the same as making any other skin, just draw the tattoo on the skin area where you want it.

Helén
09-25-2002, 08:32 PM
How about : The Sims: Traffic Jam (driving without logical skills of course) which puts emphasize on :
The Sims: The Hospital
And so we start travel between the neighbourhoods in:
The Sims: Airport.
:laugh::laugh::laugh::laugh::laugh:

timz2rules
09-25-2002, 08:40 PM
lol nina, that might just work, any more ideas?

ManagerJosh
09-25-2002, 08:54 PM
How about The Sims: Zoo? :D

timz2rules
09-25-2002, 09:21 PM
Zoo josh? wouldn't that be kinda like Unleashed...?

ManagerJosh
09-25-2002, 09:51 PM
Sorta, but then we have a dedicated area to browse animals :D

Helén
09-25-2002, 10:18 PM
Zoo?
Just go to simschat when it's crowded......

FaeLuna
09-26-2002, 02:27 AM
what is simchat? I think I've seen sites with downloads to make it LOOK like you've got a zoo... I just downloaded some "horses" but they're really statues... I might put them and a llama and stuff in a park and make a petting zoo kind of thing....

timz2rules
09-26-2002, 08:18 PM
luna, simchat is the chat on TheSims.com and whatever all that /ing is

Helén
09-26-2002, 10:04 PM
Hehe Luna.

Not a bad idea at all.. Maybe the next exp. pack: Zoosims

timz2rules
09-26-2002, 10:13 PM
that'll be strange...i mean...maybe we can get Sims to ride horses and become coboys/cowgirls? :ermm:

ManagerJosh
09-26-2002, 11:32 PM
Skins, Timz....Skins :D

FaeLuna
09-27-2002, 12:28 PM
The sims expansions so far have given us a LOT of cowboy/western stuff to play with... they have cowboy/cowgirl outfits, and there is the bucking mechanical bull.... I've seen people do skins with cowboy hats even! We can have our cowboys already! :D

timz2rules
09-27-2002, 07:04 PM
yeah but how about a bucking horse or something like it :p i mean, seeing your sim being bucked around by a moving horse...hosptial would be needed i'm thinking...

Helén
09-27-2002, 08:10 PM
True.
But since so many get hurt along the way (to many nonlogical sims) we very quickly get: Sims Traffic Jam

timz2rules
09-27-2002, 09:01 PM
so many expansions they need to make, and so little time to do it in :P

Helén
09-28-2002, 02:41 PM
Lol yes...

Then they can continue with : TheSims Airport..

New profession: Pilot

timz2rules
09-29-2002, 05:40 PM
hehe, and their are skin posibilites, and a new area to visit...

FaeLuna
09-30-2002, 08:08 AM
Since we have the bucking mechanical bull, all you would have to do is clone that and turn it into a bucking horse instead. :p I might try doing that sometime if someone else doesn't beat me to it first.

FaeLuna
09-30-2002, 08:11 AM
I think it would be fun to have a sims expansion where you actually get to GO to work if you want to... shmooze with the boss, deal with co-workers, get to DRIVE the CAR to work... hehe! I just want to drive the cars.... ooooh and an expansion that lets you go visit your neighbors and control your sims but NOT the neighbors while you're there..... THAT would be fun!! I really want to drive the cars... sigh. :p

Helén
09-30-2002, 01:40 PM
True true.

Well Let's hope tha logic follosw them... hehehe

FaeLuna
09-30-2002, 05:41 PM
or.. we could have The Sims: Road Rage!! hehehehe..... hrmmmm.....

lewdini
09-30-2002, 07:06 PM
I did settle for blizzards and thunderstorms...a bit of rain....
I dont think we play the sims to see our sims get cooked by a firestorm :)

timz2rules
10-01-2002, 01:28 PM
ooo intresting topcs of games...very intresting...i want some snow on the ground, then instead of only going up to vacation you could walk outside, pick up snow and thorw it at someone, so many new action posibilites there! i mean, think about it...dancing in the rain...

Helén
10-01-2002, 03:07 PM
Bucking horses
Sims Traffic Jam (rush hours)
snowballwars
dancing in the rain...? I thought that song was named "Singing in te rain"
Singing sims .... musical shows for sims ... hehehe
there's no end if it

ManagerJosh
10-01-2002, 03:46 PM
Singing in the Rain might be nice too :D

FaeLuna
10-02-2002, 10:23 AM
Hey they should make a "singing in the rain" umbrella object.. that when you open the umbrella your sim runs outside and it starts raining and they do the splashing dancing thing.... uuuh.... yeah... that's probably too complicated to make as a hack... I think they need some movements the sims already do somewhere?? Maybe maxis could be harassed into making it as a Sim Day release....... sigh.

Helén
10-02-2002, 02:09 PM
Hehe..
That's exactly my picture to..

timz2rules
10-02-2002, 07:33 PM
sims...singing? what is this simish world comming to?!

lewdini
10-04-2002, 05:04 AM
A musical???

Helén
10-05-2002, 05:13 AM
Maybe ... who knows in the simmish world..

;););););)

lewdini
10-05-2002, 05:55 PM
A Sim Musical of My Dog is peeing under my couch?

ManagerJosh
10-05-2002, 09:34 PM
No!! Phantom of the SimOpera :D

lewdini
10-06-2002, 03:22 AM
That would be cool...
or Cats...now that we have unleashed

timz2rules
10-06-2002, 09:32 PM
pleasnt lew :p and Pahntom of the Sim Opera sounds fun...they could make like a movie set downtown...and you can take your date to see diffrent movies...

lewdini
10-09-2002, 12:45 AM
That would be cool...if only cars worked we could have drive ins

ManagerJosh
10-09-2002, 01:30 PM
oooooo let's make a SimFrance :)

Helén
10-10-2002, 03:27 PM
Hehehe...
SimsHollywood...

timz2rules
10-12-2002, 08:05 PM
so many expansion packs...let me redefine this post...:

What expansion packs should be produced, and what items (generalized), what type of skins, and what would be added to Downtown/Vacation/Old Town or should something new be added, and what should the name be?

Helén
10-14-2002, 03:02 AM
Okey..... here we go:

*Name: SimsTravel!?
*New jobs: Anything within an airport plus hospital.
*For downtown etc: An airport is actually needed somehow - at least a terminal which you can place in downtown together with a hospital.
*New objects: Information and checkin desks, facilities for transport away your luggage ( therefor suitcases)
*Skins: Well you can imagine yourself what's needed.

With this you should be able to travel to other neighbourhoods for ex..... How about that? :)

FaeLuna
10-14-2002, 11:21 AM
I've been trying for a while to figure out how to make movie theaters for my sims... I'm not sure the concept could warrant an expansion pack focused on it... hmmm... Sims Hollywood?? :p Ooooh... now I've started thinking... yeah!! Sims Hollywood!! You could have the option to "rehearse" when you click on the "script" object, and that would make your sims do dramatic gesturing stuff like they were acting hamming it up, and increase charisma.... They could have movie theater objects, even stuff like the popcorn machine and soda counter so your sims could buy food to eat in the theater chairs while they watch the movie, and while watching the movie, they could cuddle and whisper and stuff like that.... Oh and the BIG thing I would want would be to be able to have a THIRD floor so they can have BIG hollywood mansions!!! What does everyone think??? :p

timz2rules
10-14-2002, 09:48 PM
hmm...intresting ideas...and if you put both ideas together, and made torist attractions, like hollywood, and made a movie theater downtown, then you could get new jobs, and you could have your sims goto the sets and watch them make the films...such as Jurasic Park (name changed for non-paying purposes)...

lewdini
10-15-2002, 12:26 AM
The Sims goes online would be a cool title for a movie

timz2rules
10-15-2002, 02:12 PM
yeah it would...

FaeLuna
10-15-2002, 07:19 PM
... I wonder how much of this kind of stuff we could actually make ourselves... now I'm wanting to try to make a movie theater as an Old Town lot or Downtown lot....

How about "Paleo Park" for the dino movie for sims? :p

timz2rules
10-15-2002, 07:22 PM
might work...i can't make anything, so, why not try Fae...?

FaeLuna
10-15-2002, 08:19 PM
I guess I can start trying to make popcorn and soda versions of the snack carts... but I don't know how to make it so they get popcorn and drinks to hold instead of hamburgers etc!! :p

lewdini
10-15-2002, 08:36 PM
neither do i...hmm..

timz2rules
10-16-2002, 11:34 PM
well...you coulad make um...things like a half drive in movie and a half theater...change the stuff from the resturant...and make a movie screen that all the stuff faces....and just snacks would work there too...

Helén
10-17-2002, 06:00 PM
Great idea Tim!!! :classic:

That sounds a really fun thing!! :D

timz2rules
10-17-2002, 07:53 PM
thats not a great idea...it sounds horrible...

Helén
10-17-2002, 10:03 PM
No it's great becuase it's so weird.. :D

FaeLuna
10-19-2002, 12:00 PM
... I wonder how you add tiles to objects... we could make the large screen tv into something about 4 tiles across, and then they could go to the different category of movies.... hmmmm..... I saw someone made a 5 tile table once so SOMEONE out there knows how to add tiles to objects.... I just wish there were a tutorial for it out there somewhere... there may be and I just don't know how to search for it!!

Helén
10-19-2002, 03:46 PM
Sounds great fae!!! :) I'm sure someone around here eventually will find answers for you.

5-tile table? How did that actually looked????

FaeLuna
10-19-2002, 03:49 PM
The 5 tile table was like a really LONG buffet style table, or really LONG desk type table, one that was only one tile wide, not two tiles like the dining tables... I hope that makes sense... It was a basic utility looking table, black with silver legs, looked good for a meeting or big banquet as it would have gone well with most everything other than pastel stuff, being black....

I wonder if I should stick my quests for tutorials in the Wish List section? :D

Helén
10-19-2002, 04:02 PM
That sounds great.. Of course it must have been like a buffet-table.. (knocks her forehead gently) :) And blck and silver - mm.. sounds like something I would have loved to download. :)

Yes. Put it in the Wish List section - as a new thread.:)

FaeLuna
10-19-2002, 04:07 PM
OK, I'll start one on the hollywood/movies concept and one on tutorials I guess. I still have the table, I need to go check up on what folder it's in to see where I downloaded it from! :p

Helén
10-19-2002, 04:11 PM
Yes, yes, yes...

*hops up and down in excitemnet*

ManagerJosh
10-19-2002, 05:01 PM

Consultation in your Car :D....and pay the law bill too with it. :D :p

timz2rules
10-20-2002, 11:38 AM
i know nothing about object making...but i can give some ideas...

Helén
10-20-2002, 03:38 PM
Neither do I Tim. :)

Helén
11-14-2002, 02:38 AM
A 5-tiled table. :D
It started with natural disasters within the sims. Maybe it's time to close this post?

PhilipTarbuck
11-14-2002, 03:48 AM
ManagerJosh: If you can afford my bill by paying cash then the bill was far too low. Advice never comes cheap and never comes in the time that the car would be in the office. That is if I am working for someone else, where I can never control the size of the bill. It is different if it is me, working for me. But then, I don't any more.

FaeLuna
11-15-2002, 06:09 PM
I guess we're finished with natural disasters then. ;)

ManagerJosh
11-15-2002, 10:29 PM
I have seem to lost what you are trying to comprehend, Phillip

PhilipTarbuck
11-16-2002, 02:22 AM
Manager Josh: When I lived (ie before I retired) I was a Solicitor - an Attorney to you. Whenever I worked for anyone else their bill was 'through the roof'. When I worked for myself it was about one-third (or more) less than that of other firms. So if you could pay me cash, and I worked for someone else, then the bill was too low.

timz2rules
11-18-2002, 06:00 PM
what...that doesn't make sence to me...

Helén
11-18-2002, 07:59 PM
I think I understand what Philip means.. somehow.. :) Basically it comes down to companycosts, wich affects a bill very much. When you work for a company that pays your salary, the clients you have gets higher bills than if you are "your own company". (works for yourself) You can then keep down the costs a LOT and that benefits the client. Pretty normal business economy in a way... :classic:

PhilipTarbuck
11-22-2002, 01:38 AM
It is a question of how much you can do for yourself. I did my own typing; I knew a bit about computers. They didn't have scanners, cameras, hard discs or very much at all, but were completely reliable and NEVER crashed.
I could do my own book-keeping (I was qualified in that as well) and I could do my own conveyancing and criminal work. A one-man band. That was when I was alive. Now I am retired I do not (and WILL NOT) do that any more. I will not offer my legal comments on anything at all for fear that you may decide to hold me liable for what I say.

Helén
11-22-2002, 12:56 PM
Yes. A on-man-company. Pretty common here. But it also means more than double the workload. I have friends working this way, they never are free. If not out working they have the account's mails and all the other stuff.
So I don't blame you at all Philip, I can quite understand your position. So take the oppurtunity to relax and try heal as much as you can. :classic: ;)

Bryan
11-25-2002, 07:34 AM
umm...ok

timz2rules
12-03-2002, 07:00 PM
do you get it Bryan...?

Helén
12-03-2002, 09:00 PM
Don't you Tim?? Oh it's easy. Simply explained:
Instead of being employed by a company you set up your own. But you never hire anyone. You do it all yourself, all the different parts necessary. That saves a lot of money in form of costs, but it takes the equivalent amount of more time at work.

Got it?

Hence the phrase: Time = money. :) as well ;)

(Yes I've studied accounting too, but is not fully trained)

PhilipTarbuck
12-04-2002, 02:22 AM
Not quite Nina. In this country it makes a tremendous difference if you are a limited company (or an incorporated body) or not. If you are then you cannot be made bankrupt. Solicitors were not (I don't know - it may have changed?) allowed to be limited companies and consequently you had to be insured and were fully liable for absolutely everything.
That means that anyone may approach you at any time saying that you acted for them, say 20 years ago, and that you misadvised them. Generally speaking they will be statute barred, but, on occasions, they are not and the results can be absolutely diabolical.
They (meaning the government) have ruined the legal profession. Now you solicitors on street corners (literally - not metaphorically) advertising their wares.
