Hey!! I'm all excited because I got Unleashed today!!! We went to the store that I'd asked about it at but they said it was SUPPOSED to be in today but they wouldn't have it till Thrusday!! ak!! So we went to the software store in the mall and there were only 2 copies there and I GOT it!!! :bunny: What surprised me the most when I got the package open at home is there are TWO cds for installing it!!! Then installation was faster than I thought, and I didn't even take the time to defrag etc first, I was too much in a hurry... sad, I know. The biggest WOW for me so far though was it LOADS faster!! It was taking Vacation about 17-20 minutes to load... I looked at the clock to figure when 20 minutes would be up... next thing I knew it loaded in THREE minutes!!???!!! I still haven't explored all the new objects in build mode yet, I grabbed a sim family and ran them around to three different lots exploring and I tired the poor things out so badly they fell asleep on the sidewalk and floor when they got home. Right when I was having them leave on the shuttle was when a skunk showed up! I didn't get to see it, just the pop up told me I should call animal control when I got them home. I heard the eeerk eeerk eeerk spooky alarm music and I thought I was being burgurlarized since I was having the sims leave the house at night. :p

oh yeah, and on the box the game reauirements said you needed pentium 2, which we have, and 350 mhz... we only have 300, but it's working anyway!! The actually scrolling and in game action is slower but I'm still blown away by the game loading time. And the time while the shuttle is going is faster than the taxi or cruise ship were. Oh, and I thought it was cute it has Zydeco Cajun musc playing for the shuttle music and the pet store speakers!! I guess it's to go with the French Quarter themed stuff. Funny thing is sim-singing in this case sounds pretty much the same as real life Zydeco music supposedly English/French based! :p

ManagerJosh

You mean your load time is now 3 minutes instead of the traditional 20 minute loading time?

FaeLuna
09-25-2002, 09:54 AM
Yeah!! amazing and scary isn't it!!??? The more I play the more I notice the game scrolls and moves slow though, so I DO need to get faster mhz somehow...

ManagerJosh

Always More Memory and NOT MHz :D

Helén
09-25-2002, 03:44 PM
I agree Josh on the memory especially when it slows down meanwhile you play. But it is good to be over recommended mini-configuration. I've found out I need faster PC for both On-line (if i get it) and SC4 (which I really want). So shall I really buy more memory now? I wont be able to use it on the next m-card anyway.

FaeLuna
09-25-2002, 07:28 PM
Well we've got 256 RAM now... 30 Gig memory... but it can only shuffle everything around at the SPEED of 300mhz!! And since the game is designed to run from the Minimum speed of 350 mhz... I think that's the next thing I want to get for the poor computer... unless we just get a NEW computer!!!

Helén
09-25-2002, 07:33 PM
Well to me it sounds you do need more speed. :classic:
Otherwise Josh is usually right hehe

FaeLuna
09-25-2002, 07:48 PM
Yeah, once we get more speed I definitely want more RAM.... my dream computer would have over a GIG of RAM.... sigh... drool.... :P

FaeLuna
09-25-2002, 07:53 PM
Oh yeah, I've been meaning to post, they DO have German Shepherds and they are SO cute!! Had one of my sims families get their first dog today, it piddles on the floor and you can scold it to discourage that. :P It turns out that the dog or cat you see in the display box in the pet store keep rotating so it's different every visit, and when your sim goes to adopt it asks what gender you want and then you get to click through LOTS of different breeds of dogs or cats! Most of the dogs have different body builds too, like boxers and terriers and even chihuahuas. :)

Helén
09-25-2002, 08:19 PM
Sounds so great!
I've heard that the animations of the pets are better than the sims. Not to mention the new neighbourhood. I've see the screenshots.... Yesh!!!!!! Want it!!

ManagerJosh
09-25-2002, 08:55 PM
Maybe faster hard drive? :D

Helén
09-25-2002, 10:52 PM
Maybe or true..

FaeLuna
09-26-2002, 02:49 AM
Yes, the higher mhz means a faster hard drive. :) My friend explained it, Memory is the Storage space you have to store things in total, RAM is the amount of Memory you have to actually Shuffle chunks of data around to work programs and stuff, and mhz is the Speed at which it can shuffle stuff around. :) So it's like a puzzle, where total Memory is the whole puzzle, RAM would be like the Size of the Puzzle Pieces, and mhz is how fast you can pick up one piece and move it to another place. Since I want a HUGE puzzle, it would be best to have the biggest possible pieces, and be able to move them from one place to another really fast! wheeeeeeeeeeeeee!!

(how did I get "pink" instead of "pick" my first try at posting this???!!!)

FaeLuna
09-26-2002, 02:57 AM
oh yeah, I've been meaning to post that it turns out you CAN put multiple objects on tables now!!! You press the / key to switch through the possible placements of it. On a one tile square table you can place something in the center, or in the middle of one of the 4 sides, so if the whole thing was filled it would make the pattern + I hope that makes sense.... I haven't tested it yet but I'm hoping this means I can have lights or flowers on the tables and still have them be able to put their plates down to eat there!

Helén
09-26-2002, 09:04 PM
Hmmm.. so despite all probs. some seems to have with this (look in BBS) I think it's worth every penny right.'

(I need to upgrade)
:)

ManagerJosh
09-26-2002, 11:39 PM
DANG!!! SEE!! More temptation!!!!!!!! :(

FaeLuna
09-27-2002, 12:40 PM
Hehe!! poor Josh.... Let's see, it looks like it's the eating tables and counters you can position some stuff on, it might not be ALL stuff that you have different positions for too, I tried putting a souvineer (spelling?) on a counter and it only let me position it in the center... I'll have to mess around more and see what all gives you placement options.

ManagerJosh
09-27-2002, 01:37 PM
AAAAAAAARRRRGHHHHHHHHH!! Please!! No more torture!!! I GIVE!!!!! I'm gonna buy Sims Unleashed the minute I step into an Electronic Store (two of em)

Helén
09-27-2002, 02:42 PM
Dear dear Josh.

Take a deep breath. Count to ten.
You're not alone in the situation of being forced to wait. I'm in that sit. as well you know..... I want it to. Badly. But if I can hold out... you can!.

*hugs*

ManagerJosh
09-27-2002, 05:44 PM
1, 2 skip a few, 99, 100

I counted to 100 and I'm still not calm :D

Helén
09-27-2002, 07:29 PM
Lol
What on earth shall we do then? ;);)

:classic::classic::classic::classic:

ManagerJosh
09-27-2002, 10:24 PM

Helén
09-28-2002, 02:11 PM

Poor Josh!!!!!!

reniusa
09-30-2002, 10:03 AM
I didn't read about the object placement, and boy was I surprised when I saw one of my sims put some chocolates a friend brought over in the middle of the table!!!! A two tile table, that was currently occupied by two hungry sims, lol

FaeLuna
09-30-2002, 10:23 AM
Hey, that's good to know the sims themselves can take advantage of being able to put stuff on tables in the new placement slots too!!

Josh and Nina, hang in there!!! Looks like we need a support group for people who WANT Unleashed and can't get it yet....

reniusa
09-30-2002, 11:06 AM
Hope this doesn't cause too much envy........

The sims run!!! LOL.........they run now when they are a bit away from where you want them to go. This is especially useful when you are housetraining, so you can get to the puppy in time to "scold" or "praise"

:D

chatterbox
09-30-2002, 08:58 PM
I hate scolding my dogs on unleashed!!! HATE IT!!! HATE IT!!! HATE IT!!!!

reniusa
09-30-2002, 08:59 PM
I know. :(

They get the little minus signs. I always pet mine after I scold. Sometimes hug too!!! They are probably growing up to be very confused little doggies, but oh well. :)

chatterbox
09-30-2002, 09:02 PM
Same here i dont like them feeling bad!!!!!

lewdini
10-01-2002, 12:09 AM
but cute doggies they are

Helén
10-01-2002, 06:59 AM
But that's how you have to do in real life too if it comes to scolding your dog. You should only do it shen the dog is "in action" with the mischief. After a minute you pet it and show you're not angry anymore.

Well I'm certainly gonna "hang in".. :lick:

chatterbox
10-01-2002, 07:00 AM
Your right there very cute!!!!!

reniusa
10-01-2002, 09:16 AM

I'll just get servo and never scold again!!! heehee

I'm gonna redo my aquarium . It's empty right now... Miss it. But I need to change the spot.. To much daylight where it is right now..

Then I'll see.... Hmm...
But a nice aqaurium is really beutiful to look at.. very relaxing..

reniusa
10-02-2002, 04:51 AM
We have a problem with algae growing too much in ours, the hubby totally empties and cleans it every week :(

I think it is because of the driftwood he put in there....he says it is the water.......ongoing debate of the house.....heehee

FaeLuna
10-02-2002, 11:31 AM
awww don't kick the doggie!!! poor doggie.... hmmm... I wonder if doggies pee on garden gnomes or flamingoes.... people kick them, that's what made me think of it.... my sims doggie pees near the doggie bathing tub.... I can't tell if she's peeing ON it though.... maybe she didn't like her bath??

chatterbox
10-02-2002, 12:25 PM
*laughs*

ManagerJosh
10-02-2002, 01:40 PM
Driftwood....

Then again, if it is exposed to a lot of sunlight (or artificial light) algae does grow like crazy :)

Helén
10-02-2002, 02:01 PM
Well daylight.. and i know the algeas, believe me.. that's why it will be moved and redecorated...

reniusa
10-03-2002, 09:47 AM
Ours is in the corner of the living room for that reason.....to be out of direct sunlight. So it is the driftwood. ;)

BTW, my thoughts exactly, FaeLuna on the doggie bath. My dogs love to go potty on it to, LOL.

Helén
10-03-2002, 01:34 PM
And it's not to good to change all water every week, you'll never get a balance then. I would remove the wood and see what's happening.

Good luck!
:classic::classic:

reniusa
10-03-2002, 05:06 PM
I would remove the wood if I could, LOL!!

*eyes the stubborn hubby*

We change the water every week because the algae is so bad, our tank looks green. :( We even tried some chemical algae remover, didn't work though.

Helén
10-05-2002, 12:51 AM
It's also a matter of getting a balance. So changing to much water isn't good either. Fast growning plants is good to have, Like Hygrophila, Vallisneria, and likewise. They can help getting a balance.
Another thing is the lights. Check so you have a proper type of light.. "Daylight" bulbs and "strip lights" are no good they increase the growth of algeas.
Good luck

Are we talking the sims here...or is it that u all have really great pets?

reniusa
10-05-2002, 08:39 AM
Thanks for the info, Nina. I will try some of those ideas and see if it helps. :)

ManagerJosh
10-05-2002, 09:47 AM
I think a water filter helps....Using a powerful enough filter (powerful enough to circulate lots of water) and not to trap fish helps keep the water algae free.

Helén
10-05-2002, 10:00 AM
Good luck Reni.

Well Lew.. We do have real pets to, as you know.. at least me..

:)

lewdini
10-07-2002, 02:35 AM
Wow....cool...I suppose pets are cheaper over there

Helén
10-08-2002, 11:04 AM
Cheaper to what Lew? Is it very expensive with pets where you live?

lewdini
10-09-2002, 01:03 AM
rather expensive...cats and dogs requires licenses and incurs lots of fees

Helén
10-09-2002, 08:04 AM
Oh. I see. That makes it expensive then yes. But it also means that most people think it throuh before getting the animals. Which is good for the animals.:)
How about pets like guinea pigs, hamsters and rabbits?

*sits quiet eating a carrot*

ManagerJosh
10-09-2002, 01:22 PM
*munches on his lobster*

I prefer tropical fish...makes my life easier in the real world......and sims world too :)

Helén
10-09-2002, 03:12 PM
*is just smiling*

lewdini
10-14-2002, 05:22 PM
generally cheaper nut still about 30 bucks?

Helén
10-15-2002, 08:50 AM
hmmm.... well. If it's US $ you mean it's about the average price for a rabbit here. Guinea pigs are a lil bit cheaper.. Hamsters are about half the cost. :)

lewdini
10-15-2002, 11:48 PM
Not too much diff

Helén
10-16-2002, 02:12 AM
No it seems so..:)

lewdini
10-16-2002, 02:56 AM
I got a dwarf hamster anyway...scardy hamster..scared of everyone

chatterbox
10-16-2002, 06:20 AM
*laughs*

Helén
10-16-2002, 06:21 PM
They are small.. that's why it's scared. Take it easy and always talk before you pick it up. Take your time. If you pet it a lot it will get used to it and eventually it will be tame. :)

chatterbox
10-16-2002, 07:09 PM
wow nina u know alot bout animals!!!!!!

lewdini
10-16-2002, 07:10 PM
