No, but Veronaville gives us an idea of some of the things we can do once we import SC4 terrains into Sims2.

That's what I keep hearing, so I keep meaning to break out that feature of Sim City 4 and try to make some terrains... but I get distracted... :p

You need to use the smallest "city" (which is the 64x64 size). Don't bother with trees or animals when you are in God mode because they won't transfer over. In God mode terraform your "neighborhood" by putting in flat areas, mountains, hills, rivers, lakes, oceans, islands, whatever. (Then save it.)
In Mayor mode you can add roads (no diagonal roads, no streets, avenues, one ways, highways or train tracks. No tunnels.) You can put in bridges, but only the SC4 vanilla bridge will work.
The question which we still haven't had answered is how much room to reserve between roads for the community and residential lots. From looking at the pictures of the neighborhoods, it looks like they have lots which would be 2-8 squares deep (and the same wide.) However, we've had no confirmation on that.
Once you are done with the roads, then save it and wait for Sims2.
Once Sims 2 is out, you'll be able to import your new "neighborhood" into the game. There you will add the residential and community lots, as well as props such as various trees, big rocks, cultivated fields, aquaducts, parking lots, radio dishes, power towers, waterfalls, boats, hot air balloons and the like.

ok. this may be a stupid question, but how do i tell the size of a city? i just reinstalled SC4 today after doing a reformat yesterday (and i must say that the performance on sc4 has majorly increased since the format), and am trying to work on a city for ts2.

There are only 3 sizes in SImCity4: small (the 64x64), medium (128x128) and large (256x256).
Only the smallest (64x64) will work for Ts2. It's pretty easy to figure out which is which.

Sooo... The entire city grid is the neighborhood? How will the game know where to put houses in? Or will that feature be added when we actually get the Sims 2.

The entire 64x64 city is a neighborhood.
And *you* get to put the lots in. Except for the premade neighborhoods, the houses will be either made by you or downloaded.
Instead of having the houses for a specific lot number, they will be for a specific lot size/shape. (It looks, from what we saw today on a Chinese site where there were 53 new screenshots, a couple of which showed the lot building UI that there are only 10 lot sizes/shapes.)
The only requirement evidently for placing lots is that they have to be on a road.

It'll be fun making custom neighborhoods once I get my new computer. I could even make MY neighborhood, and put all my friends and stuff in it. :D

someone needs to make a huge neighborhood and make it so that it can have lots of houses and then when ts2 comes out we can put all the regulars of the sims 2 section of worldsims in the neighborhhod. itll be fun. :)

Fun and Chaos!! ;)
Now you're giving me ideas of an international neighborhood... different cultures represented in each house archetectural style and interior design.... :D
Supernova

Thats neat! Or you could have like 8 people from different cultures in an apartment sorta situation, and have each of their rooms represent their culture! It'd almost be a kind of museum. :D

Supernova... you and your sitcom ideas... that would be so cool though,
:surprised: IDEA:surprised:
I wonder if you can like make someone famous and then people would like buy their stuff and it would be like really expensive... or maybe their stuff would go into a museum..
:surprised: IDEA:surprised:

Haha even if the game didn't let it work that way you could always just set up your house so part of it was like a museum to your sims greatness! ;)
The different people representing different cultures all in one lot would be interesting too!! You really like the apartments idea, don't you? :D
