Erhm... There is a bit different between a hare and a rabbit. The hare is bigger lives either on the fields or in forrest and have 42 pairs of chromosones. It's bigger and have much longer legs. It does not dig holes to live in.
A rabbit has 44 pairs of chromosones, shorter legs and dig holes to live in. The wild rabbit is also much smaller. Rabbits are also cryptofagres.(I think it's called in english. Word's not in dictionary)
Hares are not domesticated at all. Rabbits are, and varies a lot in size and breeds today. As pets you "nickname" them Bunny.
Then of course there are one more definition of "bunny" but that's not important here and definitely not appropriate for me.:)
At last!! Rabbits and hares and guinea pigs are NOT, repeat NOT rodents!!!!. Rabbit ans hares has theire own family and guinea pigs are related to the capybaras. :laugh:

As far as I know is the word bunny another word for rabbit and refers to rabbit as pets, not wild rabbits. :bunny: ok?

rabbits aren't rodents?? are they related though?? for some reason I was thinking of them as being in or near the rodent category... hmmm....

As far as I know, Bunny is a cute sort of nickname for Rabbit... like Kitty is a cute nickname for Cat.... I've heard people call wild rabbits bunnies... :)

aaahhh!! Speaking of kitties, one of mine just used ME to climb on to get on top of the back fo my computer chair and he dug into my arm with his back claws and now I'm bleeding!! aaah!!! :(

haha!! Actually, they HAVE been declawed!! They only take the FRONT claws off when they declaw, that way they don't hurt the furniture, each other, humans, especially little KIDS... just they need the back claws in case they get out, they can still hunt, defend themselves from other animals etc. I don't get cut up and bleeding NEARLY as much as when they still had their front claws!! Part of why we had to get them taken care of was it was making me sick from all the scratches giving me fever and stuff. And I wanted to KEEP my KITTIES!! :D

In Sweden you can't do that as far as I know. Don't ask me why cause I don't know the answer to that anyway.:)

And no they are not realated to rodents at all, neither are guinea pigs. They belong to theire own familys.:classic:

Yeah, I DO have several noticable scars on my arms that come from my kitties!! I had to stop playing so much with my attack kitty before my wedding so I wouldn't have gashed up arms and hands when they took the wedding pictures!! haha! :p

What is the family name for rabbits and guinea pigs so I can stop calling them rodents? :D
