The Sims helped open up my confidence in developing short stories. Unlike having to pull things out of "thin air" - create-a-sim gave a good idea as to what I would have the Characters appearance and wardrobe to design for a Western / Victorian Genre.
Various website clubs - had all sorts of downloads, ranging from Antique looking furnishings and stagecoaches. Mostly, stuff I watched such as those television shows like "Gunsmoke" and "Have Gun Will Travel." helped give some clue as to how to design the buildings for paricular parts of the story.
Even though a Macintosh is limited to what can be done with the first version of The Sims --- I liked the fact that it was helpful in designing some decent looking buildings. (( Stuff one would expect by going to some trap like Frontier town. ))
The storyline tends to go past the safety "zone" of what the Sims is ment to be played. I thought seriously if some of the yahoo clubs would still take my idea and develop something with it.
What I wanted is something like - an Adventure type of RPG, where it also includes having career choices as cattle being moved from one end of town to another across the boarder.
I don't know any games - where the object is to get as many cows to get from a constantly moving landscape, and rescue them from certain traps along the way. The idea of watching a Sim character at work - other than for the famous exansion pack "superstar". This would really push that idea of trying to include adventure like stuff.
