you could run a registry checker.....
In Windows 98 >
Start > Program > Accessories > Tools >
System Information
Select Tools from the Menu, and select Registry Checker.

ManagerJosh
10-13-2002, 03:27 PM
perhaps you should just reinstall windows then...

Agh, I hate it when the registry gets messed up.... I hope you can get things working again, good luck with getting windows explorer to work again, I use that all the time, I think I would go nuts without it!! :p
ManagerJosh
10-14-2002, 11:54 AM
That's why I have my computer do a registry check everytime I start up windows :)
FaeLuna
10-14-2002, 12:55 PM
...maybe I should go check how to set up mine to do that too....
ManagerJosh
10-14-2002, 02:59 PM
In Windows 98 it should be default :frowns:
FaeLuna
10-14-2002, 05:15 PM
I'm running Windows XP Professional... still getting used to what the settings are, it could be default and I just don't know it yet... we recently realized there is an automatic firewall I didn't know was there, it was giving me TONS of trouble when I was trying to use mIRC to chat!! :p
i have Windows XP Home and am about the only one in the family that knows how to use it, my bro, who is the computer genius in the family will describe somethin that would work for 2000 and earlier and then i have to figure out how to do it on here.... one thing i find annoying is some programs wont work one here, they wont even install unless it was installed when i (or rather my bro) installed XP..
ManagerJosh
10-14-2002, 05:58 PM
If i ever want to use mIRC, I use Trillian to connect.
FaeLuna
10-14-2002, 07:27 PM
I tried Trillian and I didn't like it because I couldn't figure out how to set it up to have myself logged on "invisible" in some message programs and not in others.... I'm hiding from my parents half the time I'm online!! haha! :p ;) :D
FaeLuna
10-14-2002, 07:28 PM
... I'm guessing I couldn't use trillian to run my bot... heehee!
timz2rules
10-14-2002, 08:49 PM
btw, my dad reloaded windows...but didn't reformat...still slow and laggy and stuff still begs to not work :p so, yeah...looking grim over here, may mean i'll have to go away till i get it fixed worse comes to worse...

I didn't have problems using Trillian. Usually I customize the startup sequence so that it loads me immediately into that mode ;)

10-15-2002, 08:39 PM
Can you run remote and alias scripts from Trillian when you're on irc??
ManagerJosh
10-15-2002, 08:52 PM

Is guessing "Trillian" is some program made by a wizard or so..????
lworley
10-18-2002, 04:44 AM
trillian's a aim, msn, icq, and irc client all in one :)
Helén
10-18-2002, 11:50 AM
AHA!!!!!
But that sounds a lil bit complicated to me anyway. Isn't it hard to set securitysettings and stuff so the different IM's work properly?
I know about Miranda - which has msn and icq.
lworley
10-18-2002, 03:10 PM
not really hard, you still have yoru aim login icq login etc, it's a client which you have to login to start the program, that login automatically log's into your accounts with aim etc
and security settings are easy under preferance it's worth a go www.trillian.cc i think.
Helén
10-18-2002, 08:58 PM
Thanks for the info, :);) Sounds real interesting, only that i don't think I'm so keen on more IM programs.I have icq and msn :)
Do you know the differences bewtween icq 2002 a(have that one) and icq lite?? I have search info, but didn't find what i wanted.
ManagerJosh
10-19-2002, 12:22 AM
I prefer not to find out. Trillian suits all my needs so I have no complaints :)
That's why I got the pro edition :D :p
Helén
10-19-2002, 09:57 AM
Do you really have need for so many different IM's? :)
FaeLuna
10-19-2002, 01:41 PM
Part of why I ended up with different im programs was because one friend used yahoo... another used icq... another used msn... you get the idea. :) Not MY fault they couldn't all use the same im program!! heh. :p
Helén
10-19-2002, 05:37 PM
True - when you say it... Well I have MSN and ICQ and Yahoo actually, now when I think about it... heh.. ;) But I almost never use Yahoo. Mostly MSN o ICQ. :classic:
ManagerJosh
10-19-2002, 06:40 PM
I use them all....just that I use MSN and AIM the most.
However every so often I go under ICQ and Yahoo to clean up some business :)
Helén
10-19-2002, 07:11 PM
I use mostly msn today. :)
timz2rules
10-19-2002, 09:02 PM
MSN and AIM are what i use and i hate AIM so i use MSN more...but anyway...i don't think i want that thing...
ManagerJosh
10-19-2002, 11:13 PM
I like Trillian's MSN, ICQ, and Yahoo.....
Makes my life soooooo much easier.
However its interface for AIM is terrible so I use AIM
and what's so bad about AIM Timz..?
Helén
10-20-2002, 10:15 AM
I don't have AIM so I don't know at all.
But Josh - can't you choose which one's you want from Trillian's?
I wont need it anyway - since i have the IM's i want/need. :)
timz2rules
10-20-2002, 11:27 AM
erm...whats so bad...don't like their smilies, don't like the sounds (yes i turned them off) and i just don't all around like it :p
Helén
10-20-2002, 05:29 PM
Bad smilies? Ohhh... That's a real good point.

Helén
10-21-2002, 09:47 AM
Thanks Josh! :classic:
Hmmm.. That smiley didn't look to awful to me... But the question is - do I really need AIM too?
Convince me for or against it. ;)
*sits back waiting for arguements* :classic:
FaeLuna
10-21-2002, 12:05 PM
Well *I* don't have AIM, even though my dear sis in law has it and wanted me to get it... I TRIED getting it and using it and I kept having all sorts of computer troubles when I tried to install and run it, so I finally gave up on it and never used it!! :p
ManagerJosh
10-21-2002, 03:05 PM
It is nicer....though I prefer using Trillian when I can.
Helén
10-21-2002, 06:46 PM
More arguments please... :)
timz2rules
10-21-2002, 06:52 PM
who says theres an argument...?
Helén
10-21-2002, 06:56 PM
I do. I want all con's and pro's about AIM. yes! :)
FaeLuna
10-21-2002, 06:57 PM
Not arguments like a fight tim, don't worry!! She's asking for points for or against it, like a debate, THAT kind of argument! :)
Helén
10-21-2002, 06:58 PM
Lol Fae. Thanks for the clarification. :classic:
timz2rules
10-21-2002, 11:11 PM
yes...thanks you...i wasn't in the mood when i posted that for any arguments :p
Cons: you never know if your message was recived by the other user and if he/she is typing back
ManagerJosh
10-21-2002, 11:17 PM
That's actually Wrong Timz. In the newest version of AIM, you can see people typing.
Helén
10-22-2002, 12:11 PM
Hmm in icq you don't see when the other person is typing... you just give/get the mess. But you have a great deal of "history" and you can leave offline mess. which I miss in msn.
timz2rules
10-22-2002, 02:46 PM
both people have to have the newest version of AIM Josh...
Helén
10-22-2002, 02:48 PM
Hmmm... keep on debating this guys.. ;);)
*hops up on the table and chewes a carrot*
FaeLuna
10-22-2002, 06:07 PM
I like yahoo because you can save the messages and log them, you can see the person's status while they're typing back, and you can leave messages for them while they're offline that will pop up when they log in again. I DON'T like that when I was using it in Win98 I had trouble where it wouldn't let me minimize browser windows and then see them in the toolbar to maximize again, my toolbar disappeared!! But I don't have any problems like that running WinXP Pro now. :D Oh, and I like that it's skinnable and I can make my own graphics and sound schemes... heh heh heh....
Helén
10-22-2002, 06:43 PM
Yes you can do that on icq too - save messages.. :)
The skins I don't think icq have., but I can do without them.. :)
timz2rules
10-22-2002, 08:25 PM
i hated yahoo...it fouled up my computer :p
ManagerJosh
10-22-2002, 09:49 PM
that's why I use Trillian......I can never screw up my PC :D
Helén
10-22-2002, 09:51 PM
Hmmm.. I see I think.. :)
ManagerJosh
10-22-2002, 10:04 PM

Helén
10-23-2002, 11:49 AM

ManagerJosh
10-23-2002, 12:12 PM

. o O (Here you can read this thought LOL)
Helén
10-23-2002, 12:31 PM
