If you don't see me around for a while it's because I had a computercrash. Don't ask why. All I can say is that I.E. have been giving me a hard time lately. For the moment I'm on my daughters computer. I can't even reboot the *hrm* thing.
I'll be back as soon as I can and as much as I can.
Take care Love you all.
*hops away with the computer for a fixup*

Oh Nooooooooo! That's not true at all Josh!!!!! Geezz... Stop those feelings at once ok!!! *big big hug*:)
No it has been trouble with my motherboard for quite some time now + that my HDD is brand new - they don't understand eachother fully!! (Or how I shall put it very briefly.) I'm not gonna go into that loooong story now. But no one is to blame for anything. :classic:
I'm glad I just checked in on this port while I have 5 min. on Linnéas puter. ;)
Love you guys, and I'll check in to you as much as I can.

Well. Now I know what's wrong. A condensator has gone on the m/b. So I need another m/board... Nice eh.... :(
Maybe my friend have another I can use until I get money to buy the upgrades. Keep your fingers crossed friends.. ;)
timz2rules
10-15-2002, 03:04 PM
it might just be cheaper to buy a new computer...

condensator? why do you need such a thing?
timz2rules
10-15-2002, 08:09 PM
erm...what is it...or what does it do...?
i think mother boards are only a couple hundred dollars or so, comps (unless you get a basic store bot one..icky things those) cost at least (meaning the icky ones) 6 times that.... some are 2k or more for REALLY good ones. so its cheaper for a motherboard
lewdini
10-15-2002, 10:50 PM
motherboards arent too ex...its ex when u got to replace all the stuff since u are replaceing your motherboard
Helén
10-16-2002, 01:29 AM
Sorry guys, but physics was my worse subject and try to translate it to english... naaahhh . It's a little thingy on the m/b that has gone bye bye.. (called kondensator in swedish) Anyway it's not cheaper to buy a whole new computer. Why should I? All the other things are ok and some of it is new too. I need to upgrade anyway.. so I'm working on checking things out. This m/b I can borrow meanwhile unless I can get hold of about 250 $ right now - which I can't. A new computer with the prestanda I need is about 700$ (as cheapest). *sighes*
*hops away to another computersite*
FaeLuna
10-16-2002, 10:36 AM
well good luck getting your new motherboard!! :) I might have to look into that too, so I can get the minimum required mhz speed to play Unleashed... trouble would be seeing if I need to get a new video card, sound card, all that stuff that comes with a motherboard sometimes... or if I'd have to get it separate....
Hope you get good help at the computer sites or computer store you get your motherboard from!!
Helén
10-16-2002, 04:08 PM
Mmm. Know what you mean. so what's the minimum for unleashed? I just heard it's the same for all exp. packs.
On-line needs more as will Simcity4. As far as I'm told my Geforce" 3D should be enough even for simcity4.. :)
I'm going to upgrade to AMD XP ATHLON 1800+ and 256 mb DDR RAM. as a start. DDR RAM is the double cost to SDRAM.. and the m/b's for AMD mostly take only DDR RAM.. :p
The rest of my things will work fine I believe. :) But it will cost me about 350$. :p

It will take time to get the parts ... money is needed and I'm always looking for quality for real fair prices. ;););)
FaeLuna
10-19-2002, 12:37 PM
You would THINK that they'd make the minimum requirements the same for all the expansion packs!! But all the other sims games the minimum is 300mhz... and Unleashed minimum is 350 mhz!! :p
Good luck finding the parts you need, I hope they give you a great deal on them and that way you can save up money for games... heehee!
Helén
10-19-2002, 04:52 PM
Hmm.. Interesting. what annoyes me is that here none of the exp. packs have ANY configurations written on the packs at all!! (except HDD space needed) Only what's written for "The Sims"! And that is (listen to this):
Minimum: 233 Mhz procesor, 32 mb RAM, 300mb HDD, 4 x CD-Rom, 2 mb graphics, Direct X 7,0!
And all admins recommend 128 mb RAM for example.
Try run all exp.packs on that!!! This is actually what says on my CD-case to The Sims!!
I've ordered the new m/board now. :) And I got an extra fan for the tower case to keep the temp down better.
next step will be RAM and the processor fan. I take the processor last as the prices might go down a bit more. The rest I have. :)
My old puter can be picked up monday night!!! Yippiee!! Then I only have to reinstall the drivers for my scanner and printer!!

Helén
10-21-2002, 11:58 AM
Lol Fae! But you are some years younger than me too.. :)
Lattes and Cappuccino and different coffeedrinks are so good. And you don't have to have alcohol in them to get a very similar taste! :);)
FaeLuna
10-21-2002, 12:21 PM
Which coffee drinks come with alcohol in them? The only one I know of is Irish Cream, and I haven't tried making that yet, although I've had Bailey's before, WITHOUT the coffee, because I still had my coffee allergy then. :p I would think putting real alcohol in coffee would kind of put a strain on your body though, because it would be juggling two opposite sets of chemical reactions, one the caffiene and the other the depressant....

10-21-2002, 05:24 PM
Coffee drinks can be made like irish Coffee yes, then you have one with Mandarine Napoleon.. punsch (swedish variant of arrak).. lot's of variations. The best part is that you can get flavours that are nonalcoholic and use. And something that's very tasty is a special mix of coffee and chocolate.. YUM!
timz2rules
10-21-2002, 10:17 PM

omg, irish coffee has alcohol? i'v been drinkin it for agez!!! ;) lol and after i drank it that night i couldnt go ta sleep! hehe ;) didnt sleep at all! lol ;)
Helén
10-22-2002, 10:29 AM
Lol Tess. Yes Real Irish coffee is strong coffee, Irish Cream (liqeur) and whipped cream. There are flavours that are nonalcoholic to buy and add instead of the liquer. heh.. Now I remember: Café the Paris - YUM!!! It's a coffe drink with Grand Marnier in... *drooling*
But I almost never drink alcohol at all! ;););) Better to be sober and know what you're doing.. :D
FaeLuna
10-22-2002, 04:48 PM
I think most of the Irish Coffees at restaraunts and places like that don't have alcohol in them... unless they check your ID card for it to be sure you're of legal age in places that have laws about that!! In the US you can't drink alcohol till you're 21, I'm not sure what the laws are in other countries.
Grand Marnier is a sort of orange flavored liquor right? They use that in the fruit dip at the local deli, they just have a tiny bit mixed in with cream cheese and sugar, so it's not enough to count as alcoholic, it's very yummy with strawberries or grapes! :p I made a "fake" version of it for a party once, using an imitation of Grand Marnier. :D
Helén
10-22-2002, 05:41 PM
Yes, it's orange flavoured. Then you have Mandarine Napoleon, which alos is based on oranges... It's stronger.. hehe.. but real nice. But i don't think that one is good in coffee... :)
The thing is that most drinks you can do with alcohol can be made without as well.
In Sweden the agelimit to buy alcohol is 20.

FaeLuna
10-23-2002, 07:03 PM
I think it would be cute to have a Coffe House Forum as well as the Off Topic, the Coffee House one could be more hanging out, and still the Off Topic for really far out posts to discuss things, rather than hang out. Does that make any sense??
I would go to Nina's Coffe Shop!!! ;) :p :D
ManagerJosh
10-23-2002, 11:05 PM
then what will happen to General Discussion then?

Anything with alcohol in will only be served to people over 21. (american regulations, doesn't matter if other countries have a lower age.) :)
sugar_junkie
10-26-2002, 07:39 PM

I've stated at the coffeeshop too that the limit for alcohol there goes by US-rules which is 21. :classic: Sowwy boys. ;) ;)
ManagerJosh
10-27-2002, 03:41 PM
maybe would be a better comment....because you don't know whether a coffeehouse would go through
Besides, the coffeehouse can't have alcoholic beverages...we have minors :D
Helén
10-27-2002, 04:54 PM
Yes they can, if they serve food as well. And during daytime you can eat as a minor there. If you order anything with alochol you must be able to show legitimation that proves your old enough. :)
Oh well. It doesn't matter if a drink contains alcohol or not for me. As long as it tastes good!! :classic: And there are loads of drinks you can get!
