*Can see it like in a comedy.*

Omg Grey dear! That was something! Reminds me of John Cleese and the dead parrot. I'm sorry, can't stop laugh.

*Gives Grey a cup of plain black coffee.*

Here you go sweetheart.

But I can also understand your frustration over that deaf waitress. Really annoying.

*Gives Grey a big hug*

*Hops to get a moccachino, giggling like crazy*

Too much sugar will mess up your whole system, it might get you fat and it can cause diabetics. I suggest you take the sugar level down a bit Tess. ;)
Gives Grey another cup of black coffee. (That tastes coffee and not coloured water.) :classic:

Lol Tess. At least you didn't do what I did one day. I forgot to put the lid on when I did pop corn.

*Blushes*

Well talk about popping.. I had popcorn almost all over the house, kitchen, living room, hall... They built the house without doors there so it's like very open...

Uhm. My daughter laughed like crazy. She sort off fell to the floor and hrm she got pop corn popping onto her nose.. well.. it was sort of.. funny.. :p

 You should have seen the dachshound, Godis, she was here that day. And she loves popcorn.

*Giggles like crazy*

FaeLuna
02-19-2003, 02:54 PM
Wow, we didn't have nearly that much fun the one time my brother and grandma and I forgot to put the lid of popcorn we were making on the stovetop!!! :p It was mostly contained to the kitchen and hallway, and no doggie to be in doggie popcorn heaven! ;)

sugar_junkie
02-20-2003, 02:25 AM

Billie
02-21-2003, 06:57 PM
Speaking of popcorn...My oldest daughter decided to make the real thing (not the micywaved kind), She put the lid on after dumping in the corn and all of a sudden the lid flew off and clattered to the floor. She'd crouched down with her hands over her head screaming. Popcorn was flying everywhere:p We do have a black & tan dog named Sarge , but alas, He don't like popcorn. We were still cleaning up the mess 2 hours later, lol.:p :D :p

sugar_junkie
02-21-2003, 08:11 PM

Helén

FaeLuna
02-22-2003, 04:40 PM
Uncovered popcorn on the stove is one of the more spectacular, yet fairly easy to clean up kitchen disasters! My brother set his gas oven on fire making the Thanksgiving Turkey once... the pan leaked grease onto the gas fire and FWOOSH!!! VERY exciting, but MESSY to clean up! :o

sugar_junkie
02-22-2003, 08:07 PM
yikes! lol,how long did it take ta clean up? just wunderin :p

FaeLuna
02-22-2003, 08:11 PM
I'm not sure, I wasn't there when it happened, but he told me all about it and showed me the dead pans!! I think it took at least a day or two to clean up...

Helén
02-26-2003, 12:03 AM
Yikes Fae. What a mess!!!! I'm glad the whole house didn't catch fire though.

Why not Billie. We could maybe even make a thread to post our favourite recipes on. :classic:

FaeLuna
02-26-2003, 01:04 AM

alapokeygirl
03-22-2003, 03:12 PM
Cool Bookworm. Quilts are easy, but time consuming. I have never bought a quilt in my life, have help make them all. My grandmother and mother both quilted, so I have been making them since I was about 12. My mothers' house has a king size quilting frame hanging from the ceiling. Before I moved, my mom, aunt and myself could quilt a king sized quilt in two days. :p

sugar_junkie
03-22-2003, 08:41 PM
woah, hey ala can ya make dreamcatchers? just wunderin :p

Billie
03-22-2003, 08:43 PM
Hi everyone...
Yes, I do enjoy sewing, the joy of the whole process greatly intrigues me...especially quilting. :D That and my music (piano and singing) are two important parts of my life. Now and again I even manage to put a few words on paper, but not very often.
A few years ago, I nearly lost the joy from sewing...as Pokey can verify, when we got roped into making new bed ensembles for a dear old friend... she wanted the whole works...
I managed to get my friend here to come over and we spent all night getting it finished.:)

Hey I think I need a refill...(orders another chocolate latte) and sits back to enjoy everyone's company.

Oh yea, that was a sewing marathon nightmare. But heh, we got it done, and put all the stuff in her place for her. We were glad when we finished that one. :p

And yes Tess, I make dreamer catchers, and mandola's and assorted other native american types of crafts. :classic:

alapokeygirl
03-27-2003, 03:20 PM
It's not that hard to do. You start with a ring the size that you want, it can be wood, metal, plastic. Then you wrap the ring (if it is something other than natural wood) with leather and tie that off. Then you use some sort of rope or thick thread and weave the web part starting on the ring and work toward the middle adding any beads or things as you go. Finish that off and then add your feathers and any other decorations to that. :p

kellie
03-28-2003, 05:29 PM
We had to make dreamcatchers in grade four. Mine looked hilarious!

Bookworm42
03-28-2003, 05:46 PM
lol, Kellie...when I studied Mexico in Grade 4 we were told to make these "ojo di dios" or something or other that supposedly meant "eye of God" and they were made by winding yarn around the center of two crossed Q-tips working outwards to the tips...now THAT was a homely project!! Of course, it might have looked better but we were obviously provided with scraps of yarn than no self-respecting person would have used! lol I was confused for years afterward and thought the Spanish had invented Q-tips! LOL
*orders another mocha latte*

kellie
03-28-2003, 09:11 PM
LOL book! Funny, all my projects I did seemed to look homely.

Hey people! Just writing to tell I'm still alive :) and that i went to a so great disco on saturday! PPl, check the site http://www.usinaroyal.com.br

The thing is AMAZING! The disco is the bigger of America, and it was built in an old Sugar factory, so it's so psycodelic! Because you can see some old machines decorated with neon lights and the OMG, the light effects are out of these world! There's an big wheel, in wich the lights are placed (they turn arround, 360º and in any color, intensity, type) and the big wheel that has about 10 lights of these, come down, and turns a lot! And the lights keep turning, and OMG. Each of the 360º lights costed about 500.000 reais. Something 300.000 dolars. The entire building and installations cost (shocking price) 3.500.000.000 reais... Or 1.000.000.000 dollars!!!!! The thing is just perfect, perfect people, music, illumination, all! OMG, I wanna live there, ya know? The entire ground shines (on the dancefloor) on a huge variety of colors. And OMG, it's perfect! Check the site, people. You probably won't understand the language, but check some pictures arround the website.

How are you people??? I keep studying a lot, but i still have some free time to post! :) I guess i got tooo much you know, woo-hoo about the disco and i got enthusiasmed... Well, you'll see me arround here...

*Sits, grab a donut and shut up*:o

Bookworm42
04-04-2003, 10:33 AM
*eyes Emidio's doughnut with longing...decides not...diet time again!*

Well, I've never been to a disco but I did see Saturday Night Fever when it came out and was TOTALLY embarrassed by my friend who sat next to me and sang under her breath all the songs in the movie...the worst part is she is totally tone-deaf!!! It was horrible and people kept looking back and making shush noises ...at ME! And I WASN'T the one singing!!!!

*am so depressed at memory, that I end up grabbing a doughnut and shovelling it into my face! lol*

If I remember, the colour of the message is a bit better.
Your story reminds of my only wacking at school (not allowed now!!!). A neighbour threw ink onto my writing pad - not seen by the teacher. I tried to throw ink back but couldn't. That was noticed and I got wacked. That was my first taste of 'justice'.
I am thinking that I disagree with the slogan on your notes. Surely the good do nothing most of the time, don't they? Whoever they are?

alapokeygirl
04-05-2003, 02:10 AM
Sounds like you had a really good time Emidio!! I have never been to a disco either.

04-14-2003, 01:14 PM
Well, Philip, JUST for you I changed my color...I had just assumed that if it was hard to read then people would just highlite it to make it more visible...but didn't think of people that were color-blind....

As far as my quote is concerned...I'm not really sure where you're coming from but thought that the quote was self-explanatory, in the context that evil things will happen if good people don't try to stop the people who are committing the evil deeds.... (eg. kinda like in the movie "Erin Brockovich")

Anyway, to all the others here...Cheers!! Hope you're all having a great day!!

(takes a big swig of my coffee :)

Billie
04-22-2003, 06:39 PM
Well I've been playing sims between docters appointments, in an attempt tp forget. Also trying to learn how to stop being the "monkey in the middle" everytime someone in this commune (house) in which I attempt to live in has a problem with another house mate.

I'm Thinking of starting a new thread seeking advice for the Krazed in communal living. (just kidding)

Hang in there Billie! Unfortunately, "no man is an island, sufficient unto himself" but sometimes, one almost wishes they were....What's that old expression, "The more I see of people, the more I like my dog!" ...and sometimes, it feels like that but in the long run it would be pretty lonely and boring without others to interact with...but I understand how tough it is to be the one that everyone runs to looking for sympathy to their cause...you must have that aura of sympathy and warmth...as a friend of mine sometimes says to people that are too needy, "I'm afraid that you have mistaken me for someone who cares!"

PhilipTarbuck
04-24-2003, 10:20 AM
Thank you for changing the colour, Bookworm. It is a good deal easier to read. The old colour was so hard I couldn't make out a word - sorry! 15% of men are red/green deficient - apparently it is a defective gene passed on by women to men. My grandson is also colour blind and slightly worse than me.
I am afraid that I dislike most, if not quite all, of these catchy sayings. I am particularly against that one that says everything anyone does has an impact on the entire world. I am perfectly certain that nothing at all that I do has the slightest impact on anyone at all. My wife will not come to terms with my deafness, which can be quite infuriating.
Dogs are far better than people. If they don't like you they tell you immediately. If they like you, similarly, you know it. Horses are much the same.
I have heard a story (it must be wrong!!) that the waltz, foxtrot and quickstep (and even the tango) are ancient and avoided nowadays. Is that right? I really should have continued to learn to dance. I have stacks of musical videos.

Bookworm42
04-24-2003, 10:42 AM
No problem Philip...I'm just glad that you told me that there was a problem...as for your dislike of catchy sayings, I must say that I agree with you on many of them...and I, too, question just how much impact that I have on anything around me except for my family...and I'm sure that you have some impact on your wife and children too!...I just hope that my impact on my children/hubby is a positive one! As for the dance steps...I suppose that much of that isn't taught anymore ... everyone likes to "do their own thing" nowadays!! :)

That makes me think I really SHOULD take a peek in the back of the fridge... but I'm scared!

heehee I dream or rearranging furniture too sometimes... playing sims helps me get it out of my system when I can't move big stuff around all by myself... but then again, there are SOME times when playing sims starts to make me REALLY nuts about rearranging stuff and I start trying to move it all by myself anyway!! (then my hubby gets home from work and freaks because I moved half the bedroom furniture around by myself!)

PhilipTarbuck

I play games. That is all I do and and I am just about completely useless at them - but never mind.
I keep wondering whether I should use my Futon or not. It is downstairs waiting to be sold but I don't think it will be.
We have to move the television shortly because we are having a new door fitted to the rear of the house. We would have a conservatory (a conservative?) but no-one wants the house when we decide to go so there is no point in the extra expense.

FaeLuna
05-15-2003, 08:41 AM
I guess if you like your futon you should go ahead and use it... we still need to sell off my old car we finally decided to stop repairing, so far the only money we've gained is the money we've saved by taking it off the insurance! :p

By conservatory do you mean a nice room filled with plants, like an indoor garden? Or am I confused and thinking of something else... Anyway I'm all FOR indoor gardens! :D If I had an extra room with enough windows I'd just make some shelves with boards and those concrete blocks, and set up plants on them for my garden! :) Whatever you do, I think what counts is you enjoy it. :D

PhilipTarbuck
05-15-2003, 02:23 PM
In this country a conservatory means an addition to the back of a house consisting, generally, of a solid floor and the sides are usually all windows. The roof is also glass, as a rule. In most conservatories there are no plants, other than the usual house plants. A conservative, on the other hand, is a politician - quite a different animal.
I thought a conservatory was a place where they taught people how to play the piano. Very few people have swimming pools here - it is generally too cold for them, and they could be used only on a few days a year.

FaeLuna
05-15-2003, 03:16 PM
My grandmother has what she calls a "Sun Room" in the back of her house in Florida, it sounds like what you describe, lots of big windows all around for the upper half of the wall! But the roof is a regular roof and ceiling, not all glass.

I've often heard of the Conservatory as a reference as a place to practice or play music. :D

PhilipTarbuck
05-16-2003, 06:01 AM
My grandson looks as though he is going to be a musician. He plays with the local youth orchestra and is going to Vienna and the Festival Hall (UK) this year. He plays saxophone, but he never mentions the clarinet which he also has. It costs my daugther £75 a month for his music.

whats a futon?

PhilipTarbuck
05-17-2003, 08:37 AM
A futon consists of two things. A purely wooden framework which folds into a settee (easy chair) or folds flat so that you can use it as a bed. The mattress does both things. It folds flat when it is a bed but then folds up into three when the wooden frame is used as a chair. It comes in single and double sizes.
It is a fairly simple object.

I'm so tired, basically falling asleep right now... Made the decision of renting ten hours worth of movies and watched a good four or five hours of it last night when I was tired... Grasping the storyline of a movie when you've only gotten around four hours sleep the night before is quite difficult.

FaeLuna
09-20-2003, 03:49 PM
haha solid! I sometimes fall asleep after only about half a movie when I try to watch a marathon of them... and then I DREAM and mix together ALL the movies to make one HUGE freaky story and make up the ending! Sometimes it's TOO exciting and I wake up exhausted! :p

And I get strange answers when I talk to myself too Philip. ;)

At this time of year, we must deal with all the combines, swathers, etc. on the highway, which can cause alot of cussing and complaining as one waits for them to crest a hill so you can pass them safely...Of course, having been in the tractor/combine doing the driving on different occasions definitely gives one the benefit of both sides of the problem...It can be intimidating having a big semi trailer come up on your tractor at a high rate of speed and hoping he gets by you before the next hill, etc... :O Of course, when I'm in my car I'm as frustrated by those slow-moving tractors as anyone else!! What... sleeping bag...? If you mean that mass of newspapers in the middle of the room, then yes, I Do sleep in it. Not to mention milk crates as tables, desks, chairs, just about anything. I eat straight outta the can, and leave the trash in one corner of the room. Then in the adjacent corner is my work area, where I madly scribble together blue prints for my Ultimo Destructo Ray Machine and put together plans for domination of the local men's shelter! :devious:

And finally, on the other end of the room, is the Santuary. It's where all of my games and game related items are kept. Plus my PC, cant forget about my Piece of C.... well you get the picture. Thats usually where I am, after a day of hard work, all hundled and scrunched up in front of the giant TV that I STILL havent gotten yet, staring at the hynotically enchanting swirl of colors displayed on screen. And since I have practically no monetary resources, there is no light either. Nor is there heat or even running water. A lone figure slouching, holding a PS2 controller, staring unblinkingly at the 54 inch flat screen TV hanging high up with speakers so loud they shake the plaster off the walls.

Oh, if only Mama and Papa could see their little boy now! Mwahahahaha!!! >8^D
