Alty Update

I updated my site today from v2.5:20 to v2.5:27 and I'm interested in finding out what "out-siders" think of the new update at Alturas. :) I did a few graphic changes and a few small hacks at the code to make it easier to load on 56k (minus the new 20k background image). So things, in my opinion, are looking a lot better than they were a day ago.

Alturas v3 and the Crucible v1 are coming along soon, too, but shouldn't probably be up for another year if I can pace myself. They should be really cool, though. :)

Yes Rick. It looks really nice with that graphics, even if I can't see it all the time due to my graphics settings. When I get my new computer completed i will turn it up higher. :classic:

Too lazy to make my site dazzled up with graphics.......plus it makes my forums slow with too much graphics :D

I'll go look at Alturas and see how it looks to me... um... but... I didn't see how it looked before!! :p As for graphics, I hear one rule of website-making is to time how long it takes for a page to load over a 56k modem, and you want the page to load enough to be USABLE in 8-13 seconds, that doesn't mean all the way, but stuff the user wants to get to and click on etc. should show up by that time. :)

Well I went and checked it out, finally! :D It looks good to me, nice color scheme, easy to find my way around. The ONLY thing that bothered me was the little sort of beaky looking things on the front page, like little right-angled borders at the corners of stuff... I started trying to rub them off my screen till I realized it wasn't specks and smudges on my screen! :p It messed with my eyes and in my opinion took away from the smooth professional look of the rest of the page. OK, that's my little critique, hope it helps! :)

You know my opinion already Rick. :) To me it functions just fine and I can't judge about a 56.6 modem as I'm on ADSL. :)

heh. Now when you mention it again - yes. it's like the marked corners of textframes that are visible. I haven't actually noticed them before.

Yes, good, I'm glad you know what I'm trying to talk about then! :) I find them very distracting and ugly, and the rest is so nice it's a glaring contrast for me. :p
