Dorm Room Question

Hey Everyone,

I have a question. My Sim is living in the dorm and she made a couple friends - but okay - I can't call my friends in the dorm, and I want to hang out with my new friends but I can't go into their rooms. Is there a way to go into their rooms or knock on their doors?

It seems like the only time I can hang out with them is when they're in a common area of the dorm. Am I doing something wrong?

Supposedly you can knock on their door and they'll answer (if they are in a good enough mood.) Otherwise you have to wait until they come out to do anything with them. (I avoid having NPCs in my dorms. They tend to be a pain.)
