Well I would like to say first of all that I don't have any hacks installed. So here is the problem: I made 2 female young adult sims and moved them into a dorm. Now both of them do not have the option on the computer to either change majors or do the final paper. My other sim who was a teen and grew up to be a young adult does have this option. I think it might have to do with the fact that I created a young adult... I'm really not sure. This bothers me becuase I find doing the final paper really boosts the gpa and well an undeclared major is not what I want for my sims. So any help will be greatly appreciated. And yes they have gone to class and still the options did not appear, although they can do assignments.

Well I know you said you don't have any hacks installed, but are you 100% sure? I'm certain you are sure you never installed any yourself, but they do tend to sneak in without your knowledge. So if you have ever at any point installed a downloaded house you could have hacks.
To absolutely sure this is not hack related, I recommend that you move your download folder (located in My Documents\EA Games\The Sims 2\ to your desktop and then launch the game. If the problem is still there, it's not hack related so put your folder back where it was. If the problem disappears you will have to scan your download folder for a hack that has sneaked in.

Right Click on it. Click "Cut" Go to your desktop. Rightclick again. Click on paste.

Hmmm... well it seems that a hack has snuck into my downloads folder. so now I have to find it, I guess I use one of the methods that have been posted before right? I have read about a program that searches your download folder for hacks, I think it was on mod the sims 2, so I'll be checking that. I'll keep you guys posted and thanks Angelyne.
Oh Valerie, the way I took out my download folder was this: right click the download foler and click on copy. go to desktop and right click on a empty space and click on paste. now go back to the download folder and delete everything in it. So you have the folder that is still there but empty and you have all of your downloads safe:).

Update: Well I searched mts2 and found the clean installer. But I found this from daysies post of what works and what doesn't work on the mts2 boards:
Seems like the hacks that disable autonomous interaction on objects are affecting Young Adults from selecting any University-related actions (moving into a dorm, writing term papers, etc). If you have any of these computers in your game, remove them. Examples: PTSLAComputer1, PTSLAComputer2, Konker87's noplaycomputer_cheap.package & noplaycomputer_expensive.package. Konker's are separate computers, so just delete those on the lot and replace them with the game-supplied computers. Also, the Alienware computer will not have any University-related actions. It was a download from the official site.
I bolded the Alienware because it's the comp that my uni students have. This is really weird since as stated above it was a download from the official site. Well that's a shame cause I really like the Alienware comp :(. Well searching my download file did come up with one item that is highlighted pink which must mean something, so I'm gonna check the readme and see what's up.

The Alienware comp was created before the EP, so it's not surprising that it's not EP ready. What surprises me is that they haven't updated it yet.
Anyway, there is no need to delete it as it's a separate object. Just don't use it for your dorms.
Oh and you're welcome. Always nice to help out a fellow Montrealer, even though I moved away last year :)

What's really surprising is why they designed the computer with a seperate menu for each individual computer even though the options are all the same, instead of just all using the same menu and placing it in ComputerGlobals.

Yeah I am currently using the other pc, which still looks good but it isn't the same. J.M.Pescado is right, why would they have seperate menus for diff comps? how come it wasn't updated by the patch that was out I think a month ago. I know Maxis had the ep somewhat done by then, just doesn't make any sense.
Angelyne eventhough you moved away, the city of Montreal always stays with you. And the potholes always stay in the memory of your car too:D.
