I can't get my Sims 2 game to work. Before it even loads I get the message- The application has crashed. The application will now terminate.- I bought an ati Radeon 9200 but that didn't help. I've uninstalled and reinstalled but no help there either. What else can I do?

I have the same problem.

I had the thims 2 (cd edition) installed at one point. It worked just fine, no hickups or crashing whatsoever.

Due to some extream clutter and spyware carcuses I just could not remove, I had to system restore my C drive.
Then I had to install my videocard again. (which I did. Raidon 9200)

I start the game, the main "sims 2" screen comes up with the white background and all, then I get the "Application has crashed" error.

I tried re-istalling about 5 times so far. I've also tried deleating the cache file in the documents->EA-> sims2. Still no good.

I know the problem is not my system soecs... it worked just hunky dorey a few months ago.
