Spore has this awesome custom content engine that allows you to make any creature, but limited to your own imagination.
So what sort of creatures will you create? LGM? Elves? Gnomes?

Definitely Pierson's Puppeteers for me.

I will start with a 4 legged creature to get used to the game .

Your gallery screenshots of the game are way too cool! Could it be that EA is creating it's own rival for TS2? (by the way, is that you Joshy, checking out Harry Potter?)

You know they could be ( good to see someone else post here ) .

would it be possible to create a totally peaceful planet?

If we don't kill 'em they will kill us.

That's why I propose making Larry Niven's puppeteers ... they don't fight they just run away to away another galaxy ... taking their planet with them :p

Well, imagine a peaceful world with no crime, no war, no famine. Imagine how lovely it would be for the approximately 30 seconds this would last before the rioting started. Mmmm. Rioting.
But this game sounds neat, if it were to actually worked as advertised (Yeah....right, that's gonna happen). See the galaxy. Meet new and interesting lifeforms, and then kill them! Hopefully this will be the best done part: It would be such a shame if there wasn't anything worth blowing up in the galaxy. Design your very own race of consummate warriors and unleash them upon the galaxy to kill, loot, pillage, and burn. Aaaah. Tasty.
But in addition to being violent and homicidal, they must also be cute and cuddly! Because the juxtaposition of a violent and warlike race of cute, fuzzy things is just too funny.

i agree with the guy above me. Cute and Blood-thirsty is always disturbingly fun
Didn't Wright claim that the game can be played without major military use? It'd be neat to assimilate the entire planet without firing a gun.
...But my first race is going to be aggressive. I'm thinking near-insects that fly around in packs and beat the snot out of whatever they come across. They'd be bipeds...Mhmm...
Only a year and a half more to flesh out the rest of my to-make list.

You're mad, right? Non-military use? What manner of foolishness do you speak of? Whatever happened to "See the galaxy, meet new and interesting lifeforms, and then kill them!"?
See the galaxy, meet new and interesting lifeforms, then sell them a product of your race, get them dependent on it, then jackup the prices until they can no longer survive without giving you everything they have.
Can you say "opium?"

Carebears.
Weapon of choice: The Carebear Stare. Best if sculpted onto the surface of your enemy race's sun and moon(s). Nothing is more unnerving than having the Carebears stare down at you day and night. And if any race is hardy enough to endure 40 years of that, then assimilate.
And J. M.? I like the cut of your jib. We need to cooperate for the good of our galaxy.

Carebears.
That made me lol.
I was thinking of some creature similar to Gremlins.

I'm going for a lizard like planet.
Oh and it is very possible to have a peaceful planet, you can just take over a previously lifeless planet, give it an atmosphere (or live in bubbles) and live on the moon without enemies :)

I often wonder the same thing, Doomy. Still quality makes up for quantity, IMO. It's been nice for me to see some resurgence in activity hereabouts over the last week or two. I've not been ignoring the forum; y'all seem to have gotten along fine.
Meanwhile ... if you're the #1 Spore Fan ... how about bringing along numbers 2, 3 & 4 ... ;)

I can't take credit for that. :p Take a look at the video posted by Doomstrom right below yours. And Gremlins? You mean your cat Mittens is finally ready to execute his plan of universal domination?
Hmmm. I wonder if I can create a block of cheese as my creature. The Cheese God's vanity knows no bounds.

It had better not be a big file - cause if it is... *shakes fist*
Heh. Mittens is my ace in the hole. ;)
That'd be cool to create the Gaploxian Empire on Spore. (Long story for those who are not "in the know.").

I dunno the size of the file, but the "clip" (ha!) is 37 minutes long, and contains all gameplay demo footage only. If you want to see and hear Mr. Wright explain the philosophies behind the game (and it's well worth the watch, IMO), go to http://www.pqhp.com/cmp/gdctv/, register, and you can watch the presentation in its entirety. The creator of Katamari Damacy is also featured on that list of speakers, just to make it more enticing. ;)
Now, I'm wondering how big you can design your creature. I want to create the terrors of the sea, land, and sky. Imagine a flotilla of Blue Whale sized monsters swimming around in their cities under the sea. This is what that coked-up crab in The Little Mermaid was singing about, man!
Humpty dumpty would be fun and simple prephably ones that cant possibly survive. I'm creul like that :) Well apart from my master race anyway
I think my masterrace will end up looking like one of those things from starship troopers

Arachnids. Which isn't a bad idea at all. Hmmm.

I want to make some sort of peaceful, herbivore race, but my boyfriend says he'll create a super militant, terrifyingly cruel and vicious race so that it gets uploaded and takes over my planets. But until that happens it would be fun.

big, muscular monster.
Big fangs, huge claws, and a tale with a sharp hook on the end that can impale other creature. Also must be fast.
Something like this.

but probably with fur and a different head with elk horns

I'm not entirely sure what kinds of options they will have for hands, feet, eyes etc. but if they're available, my 1st creature will be something between a human and the "classical view of an alien"
