LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - All eyes in the video game industry were on Los Angeles this week for the Electronic Entertainment Expo, or E3, an annual trade show, where hundreds of games from dozens of companies were on display.

Following is a selection of some of the most talked-about titles at the event. Major game publications and groups will give out their best-of-show awards in the coming days.

- "The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess" from Nintendo Co. Ltd. is often referred to as the most anticipated game of 2005. Exclusively for Nintendo's GameCube console, the game is the latest installment in one of the premier franchises in the industry.

- "50 Cent: Bulletproof" from Vivendi Universal Games, for PS2, Xbox and PSP, puts rapper 50 Cent on the streets of New York, battling crime families and conspiracies. The rapper lent his voice, likeness and music to the game, which will also include voice work from rap stars Eminem and Dr. Dre.

- "Perfect Dark Zero" from Microsoft Game Studios for the Xbox 360 is the latest entry in the acclaimed series from Microsoft's British studio Rare. In development for years and originally meant for other consoles, it is long awaited by fans of Rare's work with "shooter" games.

- "Destroy All Humans!" from THQ for the Xbox and PS2 lets players take on the role of aliens bent on destroying humanity.

- "We Love Katamari" from Namco Ltd. for the PS2 is the sequel to the surprise hit "Katamari Damacy" in which players must roll around wads of debris, or Katamari, growing them ever larger by rolling up bigger objects.

- "Spore" from Electronic Arts Inc. is the latest PC project from the mind of Will Wright, the developer responsible for the blockbuster "The Sims" franchise. Players take a life form from the most cellular beginnings all the way through missions of interstellar conquest.

- "Black & White 2" from acclaimed developer Peter Molyneux once again lets PC gamers decide if they want to be a force for good or evil, ruling over the land of Eden as a benevolent force or a crushing tyrant.

- "Enemy Territory: Quake Wars" is an offshoot of id Software's "Quake" franchise under development by Splash Damage for publisher Activision Inc. Players can play as one of five classes in either the human or alien Strogg armies.

- "New Super Mario Bros." from Nintendo for its DS dual- screen handheld is a remake -- of sorts -- of classic Super Mario Bros. games, with 3D graphics, but in a traditional, two-dimensional, side-scrolling game play style.
