Sorry if this has already been touched, but I was looking at the front page of The Sims 2 so I could check the August Horoscopes, and when I look at the top right corner column, it stated that the shipping date would be the 15th of September, Thursday. Maybe this'll quell a number of topics on the subject...

To get the extra car unlocked, do we need to preorder from them or can we just preorder from Amazon or where ever?

I believe it'd have to be select retailers like EB, or Gamestop, or the EA store. Though I really doubt that thing would actually stay exclusive since there would be so many ways to get it out to the public.

Don't know where I'm going to get my copy from, but it certainly wont be from the ones that Maxis listed, me being Australian and all, it would be a bit of a wait for it to come from the U.S, and that's not worth it for a free downloadable car. While we do have EB here, you can't pre-order games online from it. Once again, Maxis has done something that the rest of the world can't join in.

If its any good news, its virtually impossible to keep the car exclusive. It'll either become a download, go out on a small lot on exchange, put directly on download on a fansite, or if worst comes to worst, the model being extracted and being put in place of a car template for an editor that may or may not come out.

For some reason I really don't care if I get an exclusive car...

If I have to buy it from Amazon I think that's kind of unfair, actually. What if I want to buy my copy from an independent retailer?

Yeah, its not fair, but as a long time gamer and member of modding communities...its pretty impossible to keep things underwrap, even pieces of useless code or left over stuff will somehow be incorporated into mods.
