View Full Version : Does anyone have problems with stuff from Parsimonious and/or PeggySims2?

I just recently downloaded a lot of objects from both sites, and I built a house using a lot of their furniture. After playing with the sim living in it for about an hour, the game froze and I had to restart the computer. Has anyone else had problems using objects from either of those sites?

Ooh not good. However machines hanging up and requiring a restart are sometimes a one off ... especially if you had been downloading a lotta stuff, and then went straight into the game. There's gonna be a fab amount of RAM frgamentation which Windows is spectacuarly incapable of fixing without the aid of a big programming stick to hit it around the head with. I use rambooster (http://www.sci.fi/%7Eborg/rambooster/) (Caution the product available at rambooster.net is an inferior nuisance and is only suitable for propping up wonky legs on Sim tables :p ).
In short please let us know if the problem persists ... that is to say: if it becomes 'repeatable'. It would then be a doggy bone problem for geeks and nerds to get their canines into ... Meanwhile the restart probably fixed the prob for good and maybe a hard drive defrag is also due???

I downloaded a couch from Peggysims that killed an in-game couch. The problem went away when I followed Mirelly's advice and deleted the Peggy couch.
I haven't had any problems with stuff from Parsimonious, but it's possible you got a buggy download.

Yeah, I downloaded that couch, too, and the remote control object, and they both killed two of the in-game objects--the camelbacked loveseat and one of the plants--I forget which. Anyway, I haven't tried playing with the house again, but I'll try it later and post if there's a problem again.

Moving to Community Discussion since this isn't really about first party items, but more in the third party area.

eventually reload ts2, then uni.... but uni disk failed... wonder of wonders, now my changing tables work again. But is what i'm hearing true... that basically hacks and downloads have to be redesigned each time an expansion comes out???

Things that depend on changed code have to be redone. That's basically hacks/mods. (Edit for grammar consistency:) But anything made with Homecrafter or BodyShop is not a problem.
There were some object recolor problems between the TS2 base game and University, which probably still would be existing between TS2 base and Nightlife. However, I suspect that the recolors which worked for TS2U will also work for NL. (I don't have my game yet, but that's what I've gathered from reading the various forums.) But the custom content is started as unenabled to give you the chance to test things out without the content first.

I have trouble navigating Peggy Sims. It's terribly slow for me, and I have Broadband!

I tried downloading (from a recommended site) and none of the clothes I downloaded appear in game. I heard JMP's college clock was great and also that he's very good for downloads etc, so I gave it a try. For once something worked! So I can't get clothes, but I can get JMP's stuff, or so it seems. I had been really looking forward to dressing my sims up!

Remember to make sure you download the mesh as well as the recolor otherwise the outfil won't show, and if the designer is using CEP it won't show if you don't have it (CEP).

Remember to make sure you download the mesh as well as the recolor otherwise the outfil won't show I did a major overhaul of my downloads just prior to installing Nightlife. (I noticed many that I eliminated were from parsimonous.) The meshes are irritating. Only a few people label them so you can tell what they are using the clean installer tool. I can't tell what meshes are used by numerous outfits or whether it's a lone mesh and the outfit was discarded long ago. Is there some tool or method to manage these? I'm afraid by the time the last ep comes out I'll have page after page of unlabeled meshes. :(
Has anyone used SimPE to recatagorize clothing? I'm tired of pajamas showing up in formal wear or overalls in bathing suits. (I'm really tired of designers not giving their creations the appropriate designations. This goes for the paint categories, too. I hate looking for an obvious wallpaper thats been categorized as "tile", etc.)

Babe: After you unzip the clothing files, are you going into you "Downloads" folder and opening the packed files? Sometimes, espeically with body-shop files, they are packaged. You just have to double click them and the custom content installer will open it for you.
Zy: I haven't tried fixing my clothing catagories with SimsPE yet, but yes, that burns me up to no end!! I have several formals I downloaded from somewhere that show up in every catagory!!! Please, someone tell me when was the last time they went swimming in a full-length Edwardian-Period Gown?? I haven't lately! And there was one site that encouraged downloading all their meshes. I did as I was told. And now those meshes show up when I am trying to buy clothing!!

There's a new tutorial for fixing this in SimPE on mts2. If I find the link will you try it? I'll probably need some help. I downloaded beoboxboy's bodybuilder mesh and all the clothes. I'm tired of going through 12 pairs of overalls in each category.

Is that why I have 12 of that frumpy "shirt hanging out with peddle pushers" outfit? Are those meshes? I have to assume that's why I have 20 of the straight, parted down the middle, shoulder length hair do, too, huh? I've been afraid to delete them because I suspected they might be meshes. They shouldn't show up? Geez...puleeeessseee figure out how to organize my sim closets.

No, those are files without the mesh. Sometimes, if I click on them, the correct hairstyle/clothing/whatever shows up. But most of the time it doesn't. I just delete those out in body shop.
I tried the tutorial. That guy is a good writer. Josh should hire him to write some tutorials here. :) It took me about 1/2 hour to recatagorize them. Now all my ballgowns will not show up as bathing suits! Thanks for the link, Zy. :)

Man, as soon as my computer's working properly again I'm trying that! I've got 1950's dresses in the workout clothing. How Stepford Wives can you get?
I deleted one and it got deleted from everywhere!
Thanks for the info, guys. I agree that some people are sloppy.
On the other hand, they do have some nice creations ...
My least favorite mesh? Cropped jeans with high heels and those ugly smock toppy things. Who dresses like that? Am I just old, or is that an ugly outfit?
