Does anyone have a list of all the "random choices" that are presented when a sim goes to work and the different consequences to each choice? I haven't seen this anywhere.

Read through this thread: Show me the money! (General Discussion last post 6/16.) :)

For most of these chance cards, I just hit "ignore" since I have too much time and effort invested in most sims that I play with to risk losing their job or their money or skills.

I love the risk! I got 25,000 simoleans but then lost 30,000. But she still has 100,000 bucks saved up! It's really interesting.

Pescado made a chart with all the careers and the percentages of choosing the right answer at each level. He has a list of answers that are usually the correct choice. I find it useful because the career cards have a way of popping up when you haven't saved for awhile. ;)

There are guides and sooner or later you've seen them all (though the correct choice isn't always the same). At first I would really sweat over these and not save if I made the 'wrong' choice, but just like the dishes and bedmaking and homework, after a while I just let it be. If someone makes a bad choice, even to the point of getting fired, that's life. Stuff happens in life. Some of my sims handle loss and rejection better than others, of course. Too bad you can't get drunk; it would make those occasional demotions a little easier to take.

Yeah I agree with you Jiko ... both about the 'taht's life' philosopht and the getting drunk bit .... it would be so funny for a sim's spouse to get from work to find their partner sozzled and hiccupping and generally wasted because they got fired. :)

If they got drunk, I wouldn't mind so much, it's easy enough for them to get another job, and they get promotions fairly quickly since they've already been working on their skills. :p
It's the crying I can't stand. Breaks my heart. (Am I playing with these dolls too much, ya think? :o )

Yes, the crying I too find quite traumatic, but then they do have motherlode and I don't....

I have never gotten anything good from a chance card. They all turn out bad. Well, once my sim got a charisma point, but that isn't really all that great, is it?
Maybe you're just not cut out for the career path, 123...be a stay-at-home and tend the hydroponic plants... of course even to get that reward you have to make a lot of coffee. I've gotten wealthy off chance cards more than once, been fired more than once, demoted lots, promoted lots, points up and down. Kind of like out here in the dream world.
I find that once a sim reaches the top of the career, they want a change anyway. They wear the same clothes every day! Same old, same old. So it's time for the general/CEO/chef to start over and be a paintball attendant or lab rat.
I like to imagine a general or CEO going to work at minimum wage.

So far the biggest single paycheck I've found is "Environmental Guru" who gets paid $10,000 simoleans for one day's work, and only has to work one day a week.
Hard to quit that job, especially when it comes in so handy when there are children in the house. :D

Ooh, enviromental guru! I never found that one :o What career path is at the top of? (I've never bothered with thecowplant career past getting the plant ... is that what I've been missing? What does the uniform look like? Which day do they have to work on? Sounds like an ideal career for a woman. If she saves up her maternity days she shouldn't have to work again after reaching the top! ;)
A friend of mine was taking down tree apparatus after camp (the kids had been taught to climb a little with ropes) and the last anchor pulled out and she felt 20 feet. Bad fracture of tibia and fibula, with surgical reduction and pinning on Monday. I've been the orthopedic nurse this week.
I think sims should get injuries as well as the flu.

Just to explain, for those wondering what the above 2 messages mean ...
Jiko had a touch of itchy finger and posted the same message 6 times ... or was it seven. I had to go lie down for a rest halfway thru deleting them alll  so I lost count.
Please be patient when posting messages. Click the submit message button just the once. If you want to keep on clicking on a submit button ... grab your credit card and come over to my online store that has a super-duper extra slow server and is consequently happy to keep on debiting your account as long as you're content to keep on clicking. The address is http://www.rip_me_off_please_cos_I_Have_way_too_money.com  The site is wholly insecure and has a server that is so slow most browser give up trying to connect it. But patient clickers can always get lucky ... :p
OK Jiko. I'm done teasing. ;)
Okay, I swear I didn't do it. It's the ghost in the machine. I clicked once and got the message saying I had to wait 30 seconds to post again. "Bother that," I'm thinking, "I haven't posted all day." Waited a bit, clicked ONCE more. Really. I blame the dead grandma who keeps turning the television on in the middle of the night and making people pee their pants.

No worries, Jiko. These things happen it's what God invented moderators for :)

So THAT's why my television and radio kept getting turned on in the night. I let my angry green ghost stay for a while, since the levitating chess chairs and random scares were amusing but when he started thinking bad thoughts about the baby I knew he had to go. So, no more ghost. He wasn't a relative so no big loss ...
The Environmental Guru is indeed at the top of the "cow plant" career, Mirelly, also known as the Natural Scientist. The grandmother of my "Tuck Everlasting" clan (see other thread) has that job, and it's great. She has two grandsons at home right now and is much more patient with them than their mother is, which is weird because their personalities are nearly identical. She was a paranormalist but quit that job when her vacation days ran out so she could stay home with her daughter.
Anyway, now Mom can go to work except on Wednesdays, when Grandma has to work. She's a pretty sexy grandma, though, and yesterday, briefly, she was younger than her daughter, thanks to the elixir. I didn't realize their little icons swapped places when that happened. Pretty funny. They're both adults and I'm hoping to keep them that way for a long time. They're both well on their way to permanent platinum, which should help, even though I find that state kind of boring ...
The uniform is the best: it's fig leaves. Too, too funny. You have to see it for yourself. I almost made that her everyday clothing, it was so amusing to me ... :D

sometimes firewalls malfunction and don't let you post... if it keeps happening ask m.Josh if he can help you.... as if he didn't have enough to do already.
