Just a stupid question: are there any sims conventions around anywhere? I just figured with the "cultness" of the sims, there would be one somewhere. but ive never found anything.

meh. just an odd curiosity. nothing more.

Does EA related events count? :)

that depends. would they be considered "conventions"? I see conventions as being somewhat like CES for example (but not THAT huge of course ;) ).

Well I suppose

Conventions are usually defined as a group of people...so technically...there's been four so far :)

VChat, are you thinking of Conventions like Star Trek Conventions? Those are always fun. :)

Simposium and Sims 2 University - those are two events EA hosted :)

Generally the conventions like Star Trek conventions and Sci Fi conventions are open to anyone who pays. Unfortunately, that's not the case for Simposium and Sims 2 University, which were only open by invitation.

I've heard of some get togethers of Sims fans, but most of the people seem to "congregate" on line. (Sims conventions are ok by EA/Maxis, from what they've told us SimMasters when the question has come up. There were concerns by the SMs about the get togethers because we really try to avoid kids getting known in their real life by potential problem people, so we asked the Maxoids about it.)

yeah. unfortunately it seems that the only way you get invited to those is if you own a huge sims fansite which garners a few million hits a month (not that thats a bad thing mind you, just seems a bit narrow minded imho)
