Hey, I was just wondering is anyone could help me out here. I installed Sims2 on my computer and everything went fine but when I try to play it, the Sims2 2 box comes up and then just sits there...eventually an error box pops up and tells me to insert the right CD and click "OK" to restart application.. if anyone could help me out I would greaty appreciate it.
I have Windows XP, an Intel 82845G/GL Graphics Controller thingy lol, 256 MB RAM, 2.00 GHz processor, DirectX 9.0c.... just incase someone would need this info to help me out... thanks

Are you inserting the right CD?

Yes, i went and read some things off the ea site and it said to use disc 4. At first I was using disc one, but then i tried disc 4 and it gave me the same thing. Also, I read that if you have some type of cd copy program on your computer it would give you that error, I had nero and uninstalled it and it is still doing it... so I am looking for more answers.

This error usually occurs when your computer cannot find the data it is looking for on the disk. There are a number of steps you can complete to resolve this issue.
First, verify that you have the correct disk in the drive. If the incorrect CD is in the drive, the needed files will not be found and this error will appear. You can usually tell which disk is needed by either a picture or text reference to the needed disk.
Next, end all unecessary background processes (http://ea.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/ea.cfg/php/enduser/cci/ea/background_tasks.php?p_sid=%3C?%20echo%20$p_sid%20 ?%20%20%20%3E) running in the background. These may conflict with the game and use resources needed by the program to run.
Next, try these CD-rom troubleshooting steps (http://ea.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/ea.cfg/php/enduser/cci/ea/cd_troubleshooting.php?p_sid=%3C?%20echo%20$p_sid% 20?%20%20%20%3E) . These steps will help resolve any conflicts reading the disk itself.
If this error occurs during installation, also be sure to complete these installation troubleshooting (http://ea.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/ea.cfg/php/enduser/cci/ea/install_troubleshooting.php?p_sid=%3C?%20echo%20$p _sid%20?%20%20%20%3E) steps.
If that doesn't work try a manual uninstall and then reinstall.
It's a manual uninstall:
To manually uninstall this game you will need to edit your system registry in a two part process. This will remove all traces of the game from your system.
Remember that editing your computers registry incorrectly can severely damage your operating system. We recommend having a computer professional perform these steps. If you are confident, however, that you can edit your registry successfully, then please follow the instructions below carefully. To remove all of the game folders:
Open your My Documents folder.
Open the EA Games folder.
Right-click on The Sims 2 folder and choose Delete.
A Confirm Folder Delete window will appear, choose Yes.
When the folder is finished deleting, close the window.
Open My Computer.

Click on Start and then click on Run...
In the text line type 'regedit' without quotes, then click OK.
