Yes you can...You can even marry the pre-made people that you have no control over, such as the Mailman, Maid, Pizza Delivery person, or those "Townies" who wander about on the commercial lots.

The trick is to do a lot of talking and relationship building. Once relationship scores are high enough, you cans ask these characters to move-in or become engaged, and eventually, you can marry them.

You cant marry characters such as the maid and mailman etc... Because as you said you have no control over them.... therefore you cant talk to them.
Have you actually done this yourself? because it sounds like to me that someone is spinning ****!!!

Snoopy, you CAN marry the maid and mailman. You first have to click on them and choose "Greet" and then they will stop and you then have all basic interaction options open to you. You just have to work up a relationship with them, using the phone etc.

Then once you get a good enough relationship, invite them over and you know the rest. Once you marry them they will no longer be an NPC and a new Sim will be generated to replace them as an NPC.

sorry i sounded rude but some people post info thats not correct - but i tried talking to the maid and all it came up was dismiss or fire and with the mailman you cant even talk to him. I have an xbox and ive tried many times but i cant get anything conversational to come up .... so how exactly do you do this.

I think Sacharissa didn't realise your question was about the console version, as you can marry NPCs in the PC version.

Honestly i didnt mean to be rude but im getting sick of people posting info about the PC version in the console section. I mean its bad enough that we got stuck with a piss weak version of the Sims 2 but now we have people posting info about the Sims 2 that they can do on the PC game that arent possible on the console version and honestly it gets frustrating so it would be appreciated if people would pay more attention to where they are posting their threads.
