Not letting me go to work

Hi! My name's Becca, and I'm new to the site, as well as Sims 2. I've only been playing it now for about a month, and I've come across a problem that I can't seem to find out how to fix.

When it's time for my Sim to go to work, the car pulls up, but doesn't honk the horn, so I don't know it's there. When I try and click on it to send my sim to work, the option dissapears and then so does the car..? This has happened with all my Sims thus far, and I've lost quite a few jobs over it. It'll all work for the first few Sim days, and then it just happens.

Is this a glitch, and if it is, is there a fix for it?

Glad to meet you. :)

Your problem sounds more complicated than the one I had in the beginning. But I'll tell you what happened to mine. It seems that when sims are really unhappy they won't go to work. Is your sim in a good mood? Not hungry or tired or in need of social interaction? In other words, are all his/her needs in the green?

If that isn't the problem can you tell me if this happens in all your households or in just one of the households? If it's only occurring in one of them, try moving the family into a new house. If it's happening in all of your households then moving obviously isn't going to help :( .
