About The Sims 2-DVD edition...

Whenever I insert DVD number 1 into my computer, it doesn't read it. It just reads it for a few seconds, then stops. No window or anything pops up.

Alright, I have ALL OF THE REQUIRMENTS to play this game. My computer's a Windows XP, by the way. I bought the dvd-edition, but turns out my computer can't read it... But I thought a Windows XP CAN read DVD's. Do I need to install a DVD drive? Or something?
Please help!

Your computer itself needs to have a DVD drives. Standard CD drives don't read DVD because it uses a completely different laser.

One other thing: One of the system requirements is also you need to have a DVD drive.
