big problem, plese help

well, the sims 2 installed smoothly onto my computer, but then the problem came when i started to play it. i play about 10 or 15 minutes, then it closes ubruptly and then it takes a while but finally goes back to the desktop, but everything is really pixely. anybody knows whats is wrong?

Havew you tried changing the game options?So the graphics are nice and smooth?

no, i havent tried that. like my computer is really new and all, but the graphics card might be crap. ill try messing with the graphics settings
