Everyone in the SimCity community must be raving about SimCity 4, so post thoughts, comments and whatever questions you may have about it here!

SimCity4 looks very good. All the new things Maxis have put into the game like when you put a police station down it will fall out of the sky and how when you build like a road or a building you can see the Sims building it.
I can't wait for SimCity4 to some out!

I kinda like the fact it is using certain aspects of Simsville

Yeah, it seems alot like Simsville like how the fire-trucks come.

I am really loving the idea that the cities interactive with eachother and traffic flows from city to city in terms of resedential and commercial cities.

You can also import your sims from your The Sims game. Something very much like SimsVille. I think that Sim City 4 will be way better than SimsVille would've been.

You can't complain with that :)

Nope, it's just too bad that we had to wait an extra year....but in a way not, because it should be better if they made it this year, rather than last year, because of technology advances.
ManagerJosh

Either way it looks good :)

I really like the way the cities look and feel like real life cities. Like the housed areas look like real suburbs and the terrain.. oh my gosh, the terrain... could it look any nicer? :beard: :rambo:

Yes it can be better, Just drop your own Sim into the game :D :D (which you can do, might I add)

What rock have I been living under??!!! Ever since I saw the Simsville ad I wanted that, then I heard it wasn't happening, but I never head that there would be stuff like that in SimCity 4?!!! Now I'll have to run off and look up stuff about it!! And probably add it to my must have list.... And we get to put our own sims into the game?! wow!

The only game that my grandson will play is SimCity. That means that when Sim City 4 comes out I have to buy two copies - one for me and one for him. That is the one trouble with being a first rate game - I have to spent another £30.00 or so!
FaeLuna
09-30-2002, 09:31 AM
Well I guess that's what happens when you and your grandson both have the same good taste!! hehe!! :) Hi, by the way, nice to meet you!

My grandson plays much better than I do, which is a bit of a nuisance.
A Texas gentleman was once explaining to a Suffolk farmer that it took him three days by car to see all his ranch. The Suffolk farmer said that he had had a car like that once.

heeheeheeheee.. That's a funny one about the farmers!! I used to always watch my brother play video games, I never could get used to the controllers for those but I would know what to do in THEORY at certain points in the game, and I ended up coaching. :p You could lurk around and maybe watch your grandson play and pick up some ideas....

Nina, I thought I ought to mention that my wife breeds rabbits for showing. We have himalayans, poles, lops and a few others. I might (quite possibly, although the computer is mine - the garden is hers) get her to write to you if you are really interested. They don't eat carrots - they eat special rabbit food, which is quite expensive.
Fortunately there are no rabbits in Sim City - are there?

10-04-2002, 05:28 AM
I hope what they do for sc4 is going to be ground breaking
Helén
10-04-2002, 05:52 AM
Me to Lew since I'm determined to get it!
:bunny: :bunny: :bunny:
Philip. That's really interesting. I breed rabbits first for the purpose of showjumping and that they are sound and nice pets.
I'd like to talk to your wife some time. May I ask what country you're from?
*hops away*
PhilipTarbuck
10-04-2002, 06:38 AM
Hitcham, Ipswich, Suffolk, England - which is a village near Ipswich. It is not so far from Sweden, really, I am told. We have a neighbour who is from Finland and she and her husband speak Swedish.
I will ask my wife, but she is absolutely useless at typing.
They didn't have meetings for showjumping rabbits, did they? So far as I know they don't have them over here.
Helén
10-04-2002, 07:28 AM
Yes there is Philip. This sport can be found in Sweden, Norway, Denmark, UK and US. Probably more countries.. but they I don't know anything about. There are even records in high- and longjumping. I can get URL's if your wife is interested.
Good rabbits for jumping are lops (small ones), Dutch, and crossbreeds. Some other breeds are represented but they're not in majority.
It's not that far between England - Sweden. I think approx. 2 hrs flight Heathrow_Stockholm.
:bunny::bunny::bunny::bunny::bunny:
I wish I could put jumping rabbits into Unleashed and SC.. That would be fun. :D;):D
PhilipTarbuck
10-04-2002, 09:54 AM
I have talked to my wife. She is terrified of the computer - well, not quite terrified, but not happy. She says the showjumping thing is not in existence right now in the UK but there has been talk about it in "Fur and Feather", which is the magazine that circulates in England for rabbit fanciers. She says that it has, apparently, caught on in the U.S.A.
I would have thought Poles would have been ok, but they are a bit small.
There aren't any animals at all in SC4, are there?
ManagerJosh
10-04-2002, 10:22 AM
I'm not aware of animals being in SimCity 4 however there is a good chance the Maxis Enginners incorporated into the design. Sorta like you need harmony between how much urban life and rural life.
Helén
10-04-2002, 01:49 PM
I'm not sure at all, but I've read something somewhere about animals and SC4. I wish I could rememeber where and what..
*hops away to search some more*
PhilipTarbuck
10-04-2002, 02:16 PM
I thought that SC4 would be all about the urban and not the rural life. After all there isn't a great deal of decent sized industry in the country - just farms. Where I am only a few animals - mostly crops. Except, of course, at my house, where there are about 50 of them, give or take a few rabbits.

Every City needs its balance though. Too much Forest and Not enough Urban you get complaints...Too much urban and your sims moved out because of too much pollution :o
Helén
10-05-2002, 12:29 AM
True.
It's such long time i played any simcity.. I'm just starting up on 3000 now... haven't had a chance yet. Any advices Josh? :)
PhilipTarbuck
10-05-2002, 03:14 AM
Nina: We have more rabbits, but I don't think that we have any guinea pigs. We have a 19 year old cat and a 17 year old dog. The cat particularly is a pain. She is crying out loudly, very often, whenever she feels like it and she jumps on to shoulders (whether they are covered or not). Yes, she can still jump - sort of.
Helén
10-05-2002, 04:05 AM
Lol Philip.
How typical "catty".... They never understand that their claws actually hurts...
That's quite an age for a dog. What breed is it?
*grooms her ears*
PhilipTarbuck
10-05-2002, 04:56 AM
What we call here, 'Heinz 57 varieties' - a mongrel, but mostly a lurcher. She is a lovely dog. She was in Battersea dogs home for a few months some years ago and now she will not let me go more than few yards from her. She sleeps in my bed every night, down by my feet.
We also have a goat - a Golden Gurnsey call Strawberry. She hasn't been mated so we don't get any milk. She is a nice goat but she buts, when given a chance. Generally, though, she reserves that for small people (our grandchildren) who can't retaliate.
Helén
10-05-2002, 06:35 AM
Lol Philip.
A butting goat.. hehehe ... poor kids..
Isn't it nice when you have a dog or cat by your feet at nights. Warm and nice ....

oooo I am so envious Phillip!! I would love to live on a farm like that! We have always lived in town or on the edge. I would have some chickens and a goat, cats, dogs, rabbits, horses, and maybe a cow or two for looks. ;)
Helén
10-05-2002, 09:45 AM
Oh sounds great Reni.
I would love to live on a small farm as well...

PhilipTarbuck
10-06-2002, 04:32 AM
We do not live on a farm. We have a perfectly ordinary, ex-council, house in a village in the countryside in Suffolk. It has quite a good sized garden but the whole house is worth around £100,000, which is about the average price in England at present.
I would like a horse but they cost at least £2,000 a year to run in England and there aren't that many places where you can ride them.
Helén
10-06-2002, 07:40 AM
England is a bit different than Sweden. Here you could never hava goat in your garden, especially a "butting" one. It would probably be considered a "danger for the community" :D
I had a horse once, couldn't afford to keep him ... *sighes*

It is a chinese concept and belief like you don't want certain things in certain areas that could allow evil spirits into your house or something.

Aha... hmm.. sort of interesting concept .. :)
ManagerJosh
10-19-2002, 06:35 PM
very unusual like you don't want a street that leads directly into your house....
you don't want to have your front door, um...
Lemme rephrase that.
When opening your front door, you don't want to have a flight of stairs leading directly in front of it... (meaning see a flight of stairs)

Feng Shui is also in the game Animal Crossing (which I played endlessly when my computer wasn't working). It's a pretty cool game. If you have the furniture in your house arranged a certain way, you will be more lucky (more likely to find money and stuff).

Hey!!! I just visited my friends for a week and that's what we played ALL week!!! haahaa!! I love the game... it's... simmish. ;) ;) :p I still have all the little songs and sounds stuck in my head... whoo-hooo whoo-hooo!! and all the PUNS!! I LOVED the PUNS!!! :p we only knew that using the feng shui color and cardinal directions principles would get you a better house rating from the little committee that sent the letters judging the rooms, we didn't know it would give you better luck finding stuff... hmmm, I should tell my friend!! She only rented the game, but wants to buy it soon as they can save up for it.
