I found some decent free tileable patterns
So here's my first efforts:
I plan to do a series where the cornices and kick strips are ommitted to allow for two storey walls, plus walls that are all paper or all paint.
Meanwhile. 5 new walls in simple pastel shades
Furniture by http://www.aroundthesims2.com/; curtains not so sure, they're Maxis recolors from http://www.modthesims2.com ... probably

Ooooooh. They're beautiful!! *makes note to download when I get home from work and the gym--even though I swore to never download anything else again*

Yeah, Meg, I gave up making such promises. I just hope I don't blow up my game. :p
And, oooh, pretty!

Those are beautiful. I like that the pattern is scaled to sim-sized walls. Some patterns I've downloaded are too big on their walls, although I have once or twice seen a RL house decorated with a pattern of giant flowers in bright colors  .

Thanks, Lynet. I did have to scale it down and got frustrated by the loss of definition. Also patterns have to be scaled down vertically because a square on the bitmap becomes a portrait rectangle on game wall. Being a simple soul, I feel this is clumsy programming ... but then I'm also the sort of idiot that wonders why sims' floors are transparent from below rather than, say, white like 9 out 10 ceilings (even battleship grey like the roofs would be better than transparent!) ... the sort of moron who wonders why the Maxis objects that are "handed" such as the shower combos, the fancy shower, the curve-topped bookcase etc. didn't come with their mirror-image opposites ... the variety of nincompoop who wonders why the Maxoids did not consider making a stackable set of boxes (like the NL light box things) than could be used as staging, with connecting stairs etc.
But then I also wonder why NL didn't come up a with driveway ramp to connect a foundation to the ground ... how stupid can one get ... not can I quite get around the idea that the connecting stair railings don't have any matching counterparts in the fence section.
Jeez wotta numbnuts

Because sims are tacky ... but should still show some evidence of taste ...
Chintzy Lil introduces the first of her new range of wall decor for simoleonally-challenged sims ...
The zip contains 3 walls (with Chintzy_Lil at the front of the file name to make finding them easy), 2 wallpapers and a complementary paint wall. Each is priced at $2 and will be found in the wallpaper or paint sections of the wall tool after installation in your downloads folder.
All the walls have white-painted molded wooden skirting-board, dado rail and cornice.

Me like! I don't use wallpaper in my house but I don't like all of my sims' homes to look the same ... and this is really pretty.
I'm sure you'll be seeing it in a Porta de Luca household near you soon.
Thanks for sharing!

Thanks, SBW. It's kinda sad that there is so little in the way of wall decor for sims' homes. So much of what is available is simply ridiculous stuff that I wouldn't have chosen for my own bedroom when I was the Teenager-With-No-Taste (when I was offered the chance to choose my colour scheme for making-over my bedroom, aged 14, I chose emerald green and ... orange :o (and no, it didn't work ... personally I blamed it all on Sergeant Pepper ... ).
Where was I? Oh yeah. So much custom wall decor turns out to be little more than what I call wall art. One or two panels, yeah, but ...
Anyway ... Chintzy Lil is back with some bodegious walls (SBW, that'll challenge your thesaurus ... or maybe not  ) The zip contains 3 walls all named with "Chintzy_lil" at the front to make finding them easy. There is a whole tiled wall, a half-tiled wall with all appropriate wooden beading and a complementary fully papered wall. Both the ceramic tiles and the grouting between them have been seperately texturized.
There'll be some complementary floors for these walls as soon as my febrile brain conjures up a suitable masculine brand name ... right now 'Rugged Ron' ain't doing nuttin' for my creative juices

Really beautiful. Thank you. (And it really is 4:30 am here. Couldn't sleep so I thought a little light reading in the forum here would help. ;) )

... Chintzy Lil took a look at the nursery ... But first what does every Chintzy sim need? Tha's right, some good old weathered shingles ...
The nursery walls come in a variety of horizontal wood, paint and paper combos plus some paint only versions; in all 7 walls! (Don't worry I ain't overdoing it ... all 7 walls came from the same image ... I just used layers and masks and changed round the display order to get the variations ... eh? oh right ... you weren't worrying ... :( )
[Edit just noticed a big old Freudian slip there ... I put in a green door ... because thanks to 70's UK pop-rocker Shakin' Stevens green doors (http://www.lyricsdownload.com/shakin--stevens-the-green-door-lyrics.html) and shingles (http://www.lyricsdownload.com/shakin--stevens-this-old-house-lyrics.html) are always tied together in my mind ... what am I like, eh? - jeez ... on the bright side I noticed some pink blossom on a branch in my new (since last July) back yard and I have yet to figure out what it is that blooms in February ... either that or the cherry blossom is getting too darn early for comfort ... beating the daffodils to the draw is unnatural ... maybe it's a triffid  ]

Thank you so much! You're absolutely right, half the stuff that comes with the game is just too fugly to use. I mean, some of it looks OK in the bowling alley I just made but horrid in someone's home.
Your designs are more like what you'd find in an actual person's home. You've inspired me to give it a try, myself. I don't think I could make your beautiful patterns, but there are some nice stucco walls that could come in more varieties, and I'm the recolor queen.

LOL ... I thought up a name for Chintzy's male counterpart for the flooring BTW ... Sphinxy Bill
The adjective 'sphinxy' kinda popped into my mind more'n a decade ago and it's been gatherin' dust in my cerebral catacombs waiting to be summoned forth to join forces with a noun and fulfill its epithetic destiny. Lordy, I am hot today
If it helps anyone ... (and if you can use PaintShopPro files) here's a zip of my template ... cos I'm so without a shred of desire to 'own' anything  ... I'll never be a wealth RLP (Real Life Peep) :p

Lordy, I am hot today :rolleyes:No kidding! I've been LMAO at your every post tonight. (Luis the Lurker :p beaten to a pulp) The wall papers are beautiful. I'm getting sorely tempted to dump the whole Errol/Harcourt thing and go play with the rest of my quiet little sims, just decorating their houses and getting them married and all that.

Cos it shows you up for the callow hack that you are? I came to post my introduction to Sphynxy Bill (yeah, he acquired an extra Y ... ) and auto complet offered the chance to reintroduce Chintzy Lil ... huh! Am I that predictable? (I prefer not to get any answers on that, BTW :o )
Sphynxy Bill has made a floor for the bodegious kitchen walls but he has really pushed the boat out in the felled-forestry-products portion of the catalogue.
Wood grain is a completely fatherless-person of a pattern to make repeatable. Luckily I have a lot of stimulating music to plug my ears into to avoid boredom setting in as "let's try this" after "let's try this" lurches from one representation of canine vomit to another ... (represent~ etc. etc.)
I am not 100% satisfied with what I got to, but I suddenly feel a desperate need to eat. My hunger meter is flashing red so I go, farewell and please, anyone tell me how crappy or awesome my wooden floor is. I have ideas to improve it but ... ooh bladder meter flashing red as well ... byyyeeeee :(:p
PS ... oh year 2 floors in the zip both with Sphynxy_bill_ at the front of the name to make fining and deleting easy :)

Got Sphynxy's phloors, too. I mean floors. :o
Edited to say: Thank you. These are really nice.
